If you like eclectic lodging, this is the place to go..by no means is it a budget facility, so spend the big bucks and get a large suite and you will not want to leave the room. The in room amenities were great and the staff was attentive to details. We did dinner a Mooo which is a part of the facility then went to the symphony, in which the hotel provided a driver and vehicle to get us there. Overall a wonderful place to rest your weary sightseeing bones!

We paid about US$400/night for a room facing Beacon St. in June 2013 for 3 nights. The service was good and the fire place added a nice touch since there were 2 very cold and rainy nights in Boston while we were there.

The furniture inside the room was not very well designed. For example, the desk/chair didn't fit so well in the room and we thought some of the furniture took up too much room. We kept bumping into the table beside the wall because of it's unconventional design.

The bed was a bit too soft for me, I felt a little strain on my lower back after two nights. Some may like it that way.

The best part about it was that we could order from the restaurant downstairs. We had amazing bone marrow, some great soups, and oysters. This was great on a very rainy night.

There is a convenience store nearby and a Dunkin.

The gym was quite disappointing, with many equipment jammed into a small space. It's ok if you're the only person using the gym, but it might feel a bit crammed if there are 2-3 people there.

We asked for a late check-out, but our keys expired after the standard check-out time. We waited for a good 5 minutes before a staff came up to our room to kindly pass us the new key.

Short walk to the Commons and pleasant location, but we will probably try another hotel next time.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the fire place. A slight view from the rooms looking towards Beacon St. Good light on t...

15 Beacon has a lot of pluses: location to downtown, quiet area, superb staff, and complimentary car service. However, the rooms have some quirks. There are a lot of technical amenities to the rooms, but it's almost as if some of these are more design-oriented than functional. The glass shower door in my room (Contemporary classic) was slightly off the hinge so water leaked all over the floor. The bathroom lighting was elegant, but so low it was difficult to see to put on make-up. Most of these types of rooms have queen beds, but a king bed would fit easily. I did enjoy the stay mostly because the staff are wonderfully helpful, but I think I'd try a different hotel next time.

My wife and I spent two nights at XV Beacon on arrival in Boston. The hotel's location is very good for a short stay on holiday as it is within easy walking distance of most of the places of interest, and a short ride on the T to Harvard Square. Hotel entrance and lobby is quite small, and standard room is not spacious, but quality of service good and not noisy.

Loved everything from the beautiful old elevator to the comfortable bed. The suite design was genius, a small apartment with all the comforts of home and spaces all their own without being separated. The stainless steel fireplace was beautiful (although it turns itself off if the room gets too warm and not knowing this we called the concierge who sent someone who apparently also didn't know this and showed me several times how to use a switch, actually pushing the top and bottom, saying "on" and "off".) bath fixtures are top of the line, large jet bathtub, cashmere throw, and an amazing sound system throughout. Dinner at Moo was excellent, even if not a meat eater. We loved this place.

I'll admit that I was a bit disappointed when I first walked into the hotel. The lobby seemed extremely small and the concierge desk and rolling luggage racks made the space seem a bit cluttered, even though it is stylishly decorated.

Upon entering our room, however, I was thrilled! It was extremely spacious and the decor was soothing and serene, modern and elegant. We found all the amenities to be quite comfortable - the beds, linens, etc. were very nice. We loved having a fireplace in the room and appreciated the spaciousness - quite unexpected in a historical hotel. We loved having so many windows in the room, as well as the comfortable sitting area in front of the fireplace.

We never ate in their dining room but enjoyed room service immensely. We found everyone on staff to be friendly and helpful. We found the location to be very convenient for walking or catching a taxi but it is great that they have a car and driver available for short local trips to restaurants or shops. That is a very nice amenity. I think this would be a very comfortable stay for business travelers.
