Stayed at the XV hotel down the block and sat at an outside table. Nice selection of rolls and very good service.

i would recommend going to Zen if you're looking for a good sushi roll.

Only constructive criticism is that I wish the rolls were a bit bigger - in comparison to other sushi places I've been to, they were a bit smaller than usual. I ordered three different rolls and inhaled it fairly quickly, then looking for more! 8-)

All in all, a nice place for a roll - and sit out front on the sidewalk if the weather is nice.

This restaurant is on Beacon Street. It is small with both indoor and outdoor seating. The fish was very fresh and the prices good. Had their excellent sorbet which was served in container relating to flavor - pineapple in a pineapple and coconut in a shell. Each was $5.95 and could easily be shared. Well worth the money. It was flavorful and a cool treat after the fish. Staff was very attentive and it looked like the locals are big fans, as both take out and table service was going strong.

Zen is a very nice Japanese restaurant right down Beacon St. from the State House, so it's close to the center of town, but slightly hidden from view. The address is 21A Beacon St. (though Trip Advisor shows it as 21 Beacon St #A). If possible I suggest sitting upstairs which is slightly nicer and quieter. The food is typical for a Japanese restaurant but done quite well.

I would not recommend this to anyone who has standards when it comes to sushi. The fish was so rubbery it should be used at Wimbledon. Please steer clear of this place. Perhaps the hot food is better (we didn't try it).
