We have been very please with the Taj as a place to land in Boston when need be. The staff is courteous; the rooms looking on the common are spacious. It pains me therefore to write this, but it needs to be said that our second of three nights is completely ruined by the throb of a bass drum from a party happening on the 2nd floor. If a hotel is going to host a party with that kind of amplification, it should have a soundproofed room. We are at the moment having to endure a headache-inducing throbbing bass drum beat for another hour until midnight. They should not book this kind of a party in a place where people come to sleep unless they can insulate for sound! The manager offered us $85 off on our room, but that just doesn't cut it. We want peace and quiet! Again, this pains me to write because otherwise the hotel is wonderful.
