“Can't say enough good things about this hotel.”

This was our first experience staying at a Four Seasons. We were treated like royalty. The staff couldn't be more accommodating. Upon departure we were advised that our BMW was leaking oil. They located a service station nearby. Can't find one thing to criticize!! This hotel is spectacular!!

With a special event in mind I chose to take my 80 year old Mom to the Bristol Lounge for an elegant luncheon yesterday. We donned hats and with great expectation drove to the Four Seasons Hotel for our special event. We were greeted warmly by the hostess, led to our table and then Ricky appeared with menus and special offerings. There were just the right amount of pleasantries exchanged and then another gentleman arrived with warm bread then our wine. So far so good. Someone must have seen that ours was a special luncheon and without fanfare a lovely woman appeared with two gorgeous dishes describing them as compliments of the manager and chef. We were "floating on air".

No strangers to fine seafood we order the Crab Chowder and were delighted when it arrived hot, deliciously light and chock full of crab meat. With the bread and wine we could have stopped there but the Bristol Burger was on its way. Service was timely and thoughtful. We enjoyed our special luncheon at the Bristol Lounge overlooking the Boston Public Garden due primarily to the thoughtful and caring hostess, the kind manager and our server Ricky.

We talked for the rest of the day about how it felt like we floated in, were whisked up and cared for and then floated out. Wow!

It is hard to convince older folks (sometimes) to take a trip into the city. They worry and fret about most everything. I felt that I must write with gratitude about how the service staff at the Four Seasons made our little event so very special .

After our swift and polite check into our rooms, we headed down to the bar/lounge for some drinks. We like to have a nice cool drink before we head down to the seaport for the night. We were once again taken for a luxury ride in the house car to our destination of Legal Seafoods on the waterfront. If there was one complaint it would be the Sunday brunch check in. We didn't have a reservation so we were seated on couches. I understand the reservation is needed, but as a guest I felt we could have bumped somebody out. No that big of a deal in our eyes in the overall stay. We love coming to Boston from NY and watching the Yankees beat up on the Sox, walking and eating our way through Boston................

see you next year.............

I'm a regular guest at Four Seasons Hotels all over the world (and one of their few BY INVITATION guests). I decided to take my family to Provincetown for 2 weeks and we stayed at the Four Seasons Boston BEFORE and AFTER our ptown visit. The reason why I gave this a 3 instead of lower is because the management did try their best, but we still had a BAD EXPERIENCE on BOTH VISITS to this hotel.

CONS / NEEDS WORK / NEEDS IMPROVEMENT:

* Check the AC!!!! - Our room Air Conditioner was broken, bottom line. It was summer and warm & humid. After several engineer visits the AC was still not working and with 2 room fans it did not help. Unfortunately the hotel was sold out that night so we were stuck with this room and a six month old baby. When the hotel staff checks each room, they should check the AC especially during summer as this GREATLY affected our experience at this hotel.

* Restaurant - "Bristol Lounge" - This is the one main restaurant in the lobby for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, as well as cocktails. The servers here are HORRIBLE. Specifically the male servers. On both visits to this hotel, I watched as the male servers (there is a group of older men male servers) would typically/always stand in the back by their register and talk/chat amongst each other. We *often* waited long times for service, greetings, refills, or any kind of service. Unfortunately this was a *REGULAR* and *CONSISTENT* problem that I noticed. I'm not sure why the older male servers that work at the restaurant didn't provide the TYPICAL FOUR SEASONS experience, maybe they were not part of the Four Seasons hotel? I don't know. But this also greatly affected our experience dining at the hotel

PROS:

* Location - The location is perfect. Across the street are the 2 big main parks in Boston. The hotel is centrally located to all the shops, restaurants (high end and regular). Perfect spot.

* Guest Services Manager / Front Desk - Unfortunately the hotel was sold out so they could not move us the first night due to having no AC. It was a miserable night. They did upgrade us the next night to a larger room and the AC did work better. They did their best and gave us a discount on our first room night due to the AC.

* Spa / Fitness Center / Pool - I used the Fitness Center and the locker room where there are separate men/women steam & sauna. This was a great treat. The steam room was really nice and average sized with really hot steam! The locker room is small but very nice and there are 2 shower stalls and a separate sauna room. The pool is located on the roof of the hotel, covered from the outside with glass. Nice.

SUMMARY: I will probably NOT go back to the hotel. We had too mixed of an experience and unfortunately it seems that the restaurant staff needs TRAINING on providing the GREAT FOUR SEASONS ATTENTION in SERVICE that so many other locations have. I will probably try some other 5-star hotel in Boston, but glad to have visited it to check it off our list of seeing all the Four Seasons Hotels in the world.

Room Tip: Park View Rooms are Wonderful!!!!

Really can't say enough about the service and special attention this hotel gives towards the marathon runners....not to mention, its just a few(stiff and sore) short steps from the finishing exit.

Breakfast was preped early for all the runners and a special rooms service option was set...outstanding.

Exit the course to meet fresh ICE cold facecloths, dry towels (if you need that martini in the lobby bar immediately) and a great spread of food too....

Would stay here in a heartbeat again if ever in the city for anything non-marathon related as well.

The Boston Marathon is one of our favorite events, and we absolutely love the many runner-guests who stay with us from all over the world for this event. Our staff who run the Marathon have helped us plan all the extra special amenities that we know are meaningful to runners, and I’m so pleased that you enjoyed your experience with us this year. Hopefully we’ll be able to welcome you back for next year’s Marathon, or when travels bring you back to Boston. Thanks again for writing such a thoughtful review and for sharing your thoughts with other travelers.
