We recently stayed at the Four Seasons in Boston. It was a phenomenal experience. The hotel, staff, and location are unparalelled. The staff's wholehearted attention to any and all of our needs was truly appreciated and most enjoyable. The highlight was "Sundaes on Saturday" , an array of ice cream, toppings and desserts that would put a smile on anyone. I am looking forward you our next visit!

Thank you for your review. It’s a joy to know that you had a phenomenal stay, start to finish. Most of all, we’re elated that the staff and service were exceptional, as we hope they always are. Delighted you had a chance to indulge in Sundaes on Saturdays – it’s pure fun and decadence and undoubtedly our favorite night of the week! Looking forward to having you here once again very soon.

Stayed here with my wife and 2 year old daughter over the Thanksgiving holiday - this is my first Four Seasons experience (mostly because I believe they cater to families more than couples and I only recently have a child). I decided to stay here despite the price premium over other Boston hotels because of the level of service I have heard about, especially in regard to service of families. The arrival started with my daughter getting to pick a beanie baby stuffed animal from the "toy wagon", which she thoroughly enjoyed. At the room, we were presented with 2 cupcakes and a cookie, plus a yoo-hoo and some other treat that I can't recall. While we didn't allow our daughter to drink the yoo-hoo (given that it is a pretty poor nutritional beverage), she did enjoy the cookie and shared the cupcakes with us as well. That's one way to get a child to like a hotel chain...

Regarding the room, we stayed in a garden view executive suite, which was ok, but for the price paid, was lacking in refinement. The view of the public garden was nice as some of the trees still had leaves, and you could watch them fall. The bathroom was fairly aged, and the hot water at times produced a "sewery" smell. The bed was merely ok, my wife found it to be sub-par when compared to our bed at home. Again, probably needs a replacement.

We ate at the restaurant once for dinner, which was good. However, as expected, very pricey... $40s entree prices. A touch high for Boston in my opinion... especially as it isn't an amazing experience, just good. Again, very family friendly in the restaurant - they offer portable DVD players for kids, though we had an ipad for this, but a nice touch). The breakfasts were quite tasty, though again expensive, but we were mostly subsidized since we booked through an agent, whatahotel.com. My daughter especially enjoyed the silver dollar pancakes with chocolate chips (surprising that a toddler likes sweets, I know), which she had 2 days in a row.

We used the pool, which was decent, but not spectacular.

Toward the end of the trip, the hotel put up a Christmas tree made out of white teddy bears. This was also a hit with my daughter.

Overall, I'm weighting this review based on my expectations of a 5 star property and given the room price (>$500/night for a small suite in Boston). Highly recommended if you have children (the hotel is awash with them, though they were mostly behaved), but might be worth waiting for a refresh... I believe the last refresh occurred in 2006 (though I'm not sure if all the rooms were remodeled). Book through an agent to get some breaks (free breakfast, food & beverage credits, room upgrades) but still expect the value equation to be tough to balance... if you're not traveling as a family, I'd probably recommend going elsewhere if you're kid-phoblic. With a family, it was nice to check out, but I would probably consider other properties in the area barring a favorable deal on room pricing, at least until it is refreshed.

What a thoughtful review – thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback with us. We’re glad to know that your family enjoyed your visit but of course would have loved nothing more than to hear that your entire experience was seamless. We love hosting families and are happy that your daughter delighted in a few of our many children’s amenities (for future stays we would recommend the Kid-Kation package, which includes a visit to the room from our famous Ice Cream Man). We’re in the process of performing a guest bathroom enhancement which will be completed this spring. And we’ll be performing additional enhancements in the coming months and years that we trust our guests will take great pleasure in. We’ve shared your comments with our department heads, as we’re always striving to better ourselves and to make each guest visit magical.

No doubt that this is the best Boston has to offer. We stayed at the Four Seasons for our anniversary and we were treated like royalty down to the bottle of champagne and chocolates waiting for us when we arrived back from dinner. This hotel is not cheap nor a bargain but sometimes you just gotta splurge. You can't take it with you, know what I mean?
Recommend you have a drink at the Bristol Lounge, which seems to always be full. You ppay for this trea

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking Boylston Street for a view of the Public Gardens.

It would be really difficult to find something wrong at this property! We have stayed here 3 times in the past few months, and each time we are delivered a consistent, friendly, warm, and inviting experience!

The location of this property is outstanding, right in the heart of Back Bay close enough to shopping, entertainment, and restaurants, while being just far enough up to create a serene environment in the heart of a city. With the parks right across the street you can have a lot of experiences in one stay.

The rooms of course are beautiful and comfortable, with every luxury provided. I love the turn down service, and always find the room service breakfast to be top-notch. The Bristol Lounge downstairs is my absolute favorite place inside this hotel, it is extremely comfortable and a great place to grab a fantastic drink and appetizer (or dinner!). They have a lot of really cute events here too, like the make your own sundae's one night and other specials throughout the week.

The spa also provides an excellent massage ;-)

Overall this is a much loved property and I would say don't hesitate to book it if you are considering a stay in Boston!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Commons!

We’re absolutely glowing – thank you so much for your detailed review. First and foremost, we’re delighted that you enjoy our amenities including The Bristol Lounge; it’s a special place, often referred to as ‘Boston’s living room’ because it truly is everything to everyone – a wonderful spot for drinks, relaxing, power dining or anything in between. Secondly, we’re thrilled that you were able to take advantage of our location in the heart of Back Bay. The Public Garden view across the street gets more beautiful with each season and is a magical spot year-round. We greatly appreciate your business and fantastic endorsement, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again soon.

Just spent the weekend in Boston visiting my son. Although I have stayed at many Four Seasons properties, I have never stayed at this property in Boston. After three nights, I can honestly say without hesitation, that the experience at the Four Seasons Boston was truly outstanding. The location, condition of the hotel, amenities, and service provided by all staff members was absolutely perfect. Although expensive, you do indeed get what you pay for. Rest assured, at the end of the day--you will be extremely satisfied with your decision to stay at the Four Seasons !!

It is not hard to find nice things to say about this hotel. We enjoyed everything about our stay. The location is perfect. The view of Boston Garden from our spacious, nicely appointed room was beautiful. Great shopping and dining is just a short, pleasant walk from the hotel. Inside the hotel is a peaceful refuge from a busy day in the city. Service is attentive yet unobtrusive, they really know how to find the right balance. There are so many little details that they get right, that it is hard to choose a favorite. The health club and pool are located on the top floor with another nice view. You can go right up from your room without having to go through the lobby in your workout wear or bathing suit. This is a great hotel inside and out.

This is the first review I have ever written on a hotel but after seeing so much variation in service in the hospitality world, I felt it was important to write this. The best thing about the 4 Seasons is the consistency of service no matter when you go back or what time of year you are there. The staff is exemplary and the facility is well maintained. The health club is excellent and the food is above par. The Bristol Lounge and the Bristol Burger are really a Boston Landmark by now. Recommend this 4 Seasons to everyone as a "must Stay" spot.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front have a view of the Park

We’re honored that your first Tripadvisor review is of Four Seasons Boston – we can’t thank you enough for taking the time to share your experiences both at our Four Seasons and at our sister properties around the world. Though we’re all in different cities and towns, our hotels do share that common goal to provide the best customer service to our guests that is warm, genuine and “just right.” We’re elated that you enjoyed our Fitness Center in addition to The Bristol Lounge. It’s true that the Bristol Burger has risen to fame and it’s easy to see why! We hope to have the chance to welcome you back again in the future – it would be our sincere pleasure.
