“Perfection by the park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012 via mobile

Our family spent two nights at the Four Seasons. We cannot say enough good things about this hotel. From the welcome stuffed animals for the children, extremely accommodating service from housekeeping to the fabulous food in the Bristol Lounge, everything was perfect. If you are traveling with children, the lovely indoor pool on the 8th floor is not to be missed, especially on a rainy day when the sightseeing is too soggy. We look forward to our next visit.

Instead of going to the shore for a week, my family decided on a mid-week trip to Boston. My husband and I usually stay at The Lenox or The Elliott, at the other end of Newbury Street. But this was our daughter's first trip to Boston, and I wanted to be by the Common. What an exceptional choice the Four Seasons turned out to be. We had a lovely, immaculately clean suite, and my daughter slept on the sleeper sofa that the staff came and pulled out and made up each night, then made up to a couch again each morning. While checking in, a wagon of stuffed animals was pulled out and my daughter was told she could choose one. When we got to our room, a special kit of toiletries was brought for her - paraben and petroleum free - and a cute welcome snack kit, as well as a robe and slippers that fit her perfectly. It is my husband's birthday week and a little while after arriving, a lovely "Happy Birthday" dessert tray was brought to our room.

On top of all those lovely touches, everyone addresses you by your last name as though you are a permanent resident, and addressed my daughter by her first name. Evan the concierge was helpful in suggesting child-friendly activities and restaurants and booked us the use of the hotel's Mercedes sedan to drop us off at our destinations.

All staff (Deborah at Concierge, Tony and Ian at the front desk, Po from housekeeping, Abdelilah our bellman, etc, etc.) were unfailingly polite, accommodating, and better yet, cheerful. If anyone on staff was having a bad day, we most certainly never knew.

There were other small touches that separate Four Seasons from other hotels - if your glasses are out, a chamois cloth is put beneath them. Take off your rings? A small jewelry dish is put out for you. A bookmark in your book, a water and glass on a coaster by your bed.

The location in itself is truly perfect. Across from the Public Garden (the oldest public garden in the US) there are lovely views - especially from the indoor pool on the 8th floor - of the Garden, with it's beautiful pond and Swan Boats gliding across. Boston Common is to the right of the Garden, and Newbury Street is to the left of the Garden. With Charles Street and Beacon Hill at the other end of the Garden, no matter where we went, we had the most beautiful walk back to the hotel and spent our few spare moments just relaxing and enjoying the sunshine before walking across the street back to our rooms. Not to mention, it is the end of August and we had the most fantastic weather - no humidity, low temps, sun all day.

We used every amenity offered to us - pool, steam room, the hotel shop, the restaurant, car service, etc. and not one thing fell short of expectation. My daughter has fallen in love with the city of Boston, and we have fallen in love with the Four Seasons. Can't wait to return.

Thank you for your detailed review. We’re thrilled that you chose Four Seasons for your Boston visit – and that you liked our property and city so much. It’s our hope that each and every guest feels special and at home from the moment he/she arrives, and we love that you felt just that. I recently stayed here for work. While I found the service to be great, as usual, and the location (right outside the park) to be ideal, this Four Seasons is in need of an update. My room was very clean with a comfortable bed and nice linens, but the decor was stuck in the 80s (maybe early 90s if you're being generous). Also, while the room did have a "full marble bathroom" (as described on the hotel's website), it had a tub/shower combo, which just isn't very modern at all. If you can't have a separate shower and separate soaking tub, then just cut out the tub entirely and do a nice large shower. I never would have actually taken a bath in that tub, so what's the point to it?

And even though I was on the top floor, I found the traffic noise (sounded like large trucks) to be rather loud -- loud enough to wake me up at 5:30. I believe they have inside-facing courtyard rooms, so I would ask for one of those if you're a light sleeper.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside-facing courtyard room if you're a light sleeper and would be bothered by traff...

This Hotel is superb! We always have the best experience at any Four Seasons Hotel.
I don't know how they do it but they really understand customer service. The rooms we clean and didn't look run down. The gym was easy to use and the restaurant had the best food.
Our family had the best time and we walked every where. Plus the park was right across the street.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the park.

We decided to leave Cape Cod early as it was overcrowded, therefore affecting the service. We love most Four Seasons, and this is still one of our favourites...beautiful and clean rooms, courteous staff, prompt service, positive and energetic lobby staff (bellmen, concierge, reception). And you still have one of the best cobb salads ever!

Thank you for your wonderful review. It’s a joy to receive glowing feedback from our guests, and especially as it pertains to excellent service. We pride ourselves on providing fantastic service, and we work each day to enhance the guest experience even further. Our Bristol Lounge team is so excited that you’re a Cobb Salad fan. The Caesar Salad is also a favorite – perhaps something to sample upon your next visit!

Had a great experience in the middle of summer. Great service and top notch facility. The restaurant is good, but expensive. Fitness area is clean and in good working order. Friendly, helpful staff at every turn.

Room Tip: Unless you are on a high floor, paying for a park view room is not worth the money.
