“Better than we thought!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

Our first sight of Chandler Inn was walking from Arlington station - we saw the hotel in the distance and saw the letters spelling out the name with rust bleeding down the wall and we thought we were in for a seedy hotel. But when we got to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised. A great bar out the front where we had a decent complimentary breakfast the first day. The room was clean and gorgeous - the marble bathroom felt very fancy! Great free wifi too. Loved that it was walking distances to two different train lines, that made our lives easier. Actually one of the more spacious rooms we've had on our journey so far

Based on the reviews we expected more of this hotel. The location was excellent. Close to all the things we wanted to visit in Boston but still in a quiet street in a nice neighborhood. Although the rooms seem to be renovated recently it just doesn't feel clean. We found a couple of long black hairs in the bathroom and on the beds and the carpet was far from clean. What we found very inconvenient about this hotel is that our room lacked any form of closet space. Having to get your stuff in and out your suitcase very time you change just isn't very comfortable. We were unpleasantly surprised by the housekeeping stumbling into our room without knocking at one time. On other occasions they seem to be more interested in watching the soccer games on TV in other rooms and yelling in the hallway than really being busy cleaning rooms. Another thing we didn't like was that that rooms were cleaned only after 4pm during our stay. When you're out all day sightseeing and walking throughout the city It would be pleasant to get back in a clean room with fresh towels. I know you get what you pay for, but this hotel is not actually cheap and for the price we paid I expected more of it. Would not recommend this hotel to friends.

Chandler Inn was unexpected oasis in the heart of the South End. Make sure to have cocktails and a bite at the bar at the downstairs Trophy Room.
Rooms and bathrooms are small and decor is rather dark and dull, but would recommend a visit - especially if you plan on being out and about the entire time.

We booked our stay in Boston using the secret hotel booking Travelocity. It was pricier than we liked but then we found out that the room rate was actually a lot more than what we were paying. The location is perfect and we loved the hotel restaurant. If you get a room at the end of the hallway you get windows on two walls which was really nice.

I needed a hotel for one night before business meetings the next day at the Prudential Center. I also had a specific budget I needed to stay within, with about a 2 week lead time! When I starting searching hotels in the immediate area I had a very difficult time staying within budget. I finally found Chandler Inn and it met all my needs. My only disappointment was no on property parking, but they offer a discount price ($28 overnight) at a parking garage that's about a 3 minute drive, and a 5 minute walk back to the hotel...very easy -- and they even give you a map in case you are not familiar with the area. My room was on the 4th floor with a view of the Prudential Center..so very nice! It was small like others have commented, but for one person it was more than enough space. I'm not sure I would want to stay for several nights with my husband...I think you might start bumping into each other after a while! LOL The staff is very pleasant and although there is no room service they have ice and coffee available in the lobby. I would highly recommend this hotel, particularly for business travel, or short stays in the city.
