Bought a bunch of cakes
Sales staff were disorganized, confused, and very rude
Some cakes were good, but a Black Forest cake tasted like dirt from the forest floor
When we complained, the owner could not have cared less
There's a great bakery in Brighton center
Not this one though

I go to Athan's European Bakery practically every week. It's a wonderful place to hang out with a friend, the kids, or even by yourself. The baked goods (anything from cakes to pastries to baklava) are incredible!!! they also offer ice cream and chocolates, and you can buy gift arrangements. The place itself is extremely pleasant and spacious.
Rain or shine it is THE place to go to :)

I love this restuarant. It's a European style cafe and bakery. I've been there many times. They never rush you. The food is usually great. There's free wireless. You can go with friends or alone and it's usually a pleasant experience. But today someone must have been saving on heat. It was freezing. My feet felt like blocks of ice. The silverware was so cold it made the warm food cold. My hands were already so cold and touching the cold silverware turned my fingers blue. I ordered the eggs florentine. It was delicious but the bread, although delicious, was so difficult to cut through that I had to ask for another knife. Even then I felt like I needed the strength of a lumberjack to saw through the bread. I was with a friend from out of town and we were there to catch up on life so we stayed. They tried to turn up the heat but by the time we left, it was still pretty cold. Half an hour later, I'm still trying to get warm.

I have been to Athans a number of times over the past few years. Took my son and his friend there for lunch today. Lovely place. Great atmosphere and really good food a reasonable prices. It's not a pizza joint, or cheap kind of place. They have art on the walls, use real china, and let you linger. The menu is limited, but offers something for most everyone and the portions are huge.
