Seiyo is a small little upscale neighborhood sushi restaurant in the South End of Boston that also shares space with a great little wine shop. I moved to the area about 5 years back and hadn't been back to Seiyo since I first tried it out back then. Thankfully our neighbors insisted that we give it another try - consistently raving about their experiences. Overall the atmosphere is upscale, cosy, with great angled tables for couples right up against the windows. The sushi is great - fish fresh, creative rolls, with great tasting miso soup and your typical iceberg lettuce salad with fantastic ginger dressing. They also have great bento box specials at lunch. We have been back 2 times over the last month and plan on making this our regular go-to spot.

Not an expert on Japanese food but we like sushi and very much enjoyed what we had here. So much so that we ordered seconds! The menu is confusing in that you need to know what sushi, sashimi, maki, etc are and some things come in sixes but others are individual. The waitress was kind in helping us order.

We liked it so much we are going back for our last night in Boston. It is also a wine bar so you can go just for a glass of wine.

I live around the corner and go to this place all the time. The sushi is consistently high quality fish. Nice and fresh and very tasty. The prices aren't off the charts but its not cheap either, although very reasonable when considering how good the food is. It's run by a nice family and there's also a nice beer/wine shop on the side.

Good neighborhood restaurant, very small inside but comfortable enough. They don't take lunch reservations but it was not busy and we were seated right away. The Bento box lunch is a good value for what you get, which is a good amount and everything was very tasty. Only quibble is that service was slow - we waited nearly a half hour for our boxes even though the restaurant was almost empty. Appetizers were also somewhat slow to arrive. This is why I gave it three stars instead of four.

The sushi here is great: inventive, somewhat unusual & very tasty.
By the way, we actually didn't want to get in to Toro & thus cross the road because of the wait!
Started with a good miso soup, followed by a large sashimi plate to share: "white" tuna, tuna, bass & salmon. All very fresh & good quality.
Then various sushi dishes, in particular the fried oyster (pearl) dish was very good & the duck sushi also very tasty.
Good ambience & excellent service, also interesting red wines by the glass.
