Don't stay here. The staff are unpleasant and totally unhelpful. The hot water in the shower (there was no bath) did not work so we had to take a stone cold shower. Reception staff didn't even apologise!

We are Marriott Reward Members and stay at Marriotts all over the U.S. from Hawaii and Portland OR to Mystic CN and Newport RI. You can't go wrong with Marriotts. The Renaissance on the Waterfront in Boston is the exception. We stayed in a tiny room with no view. The decor in the rooms looks good if you like Elmo, Bert and Ernie, very teenage looking. Upgrades were unavailable and getting late check out was a fight. The staff at the desk and at the bar were snippy and unfriendly, The desk staff told us that it was close to the action. Wrong! Be prepared to pay hefty cab fares. The high points were the bed comfortable) and Winnie the Concierge who was helpful. We stayed in Bar Harbor and Kennebunkport Maine which was totally delightful and then headed to Boston for the final leg. We wished we had left this out.

Stayed here beginning on 6/13 for 4 nights. Arrived really early and was surprised and happy to be allowed to check in. Hotel is close to Logan and adjacent to Silver Line stop which made transportation really easy. Room was clean, good daily service, Aveda products. Pool is small but was never crowded...I was there by myself every time. There is a small hot tub too.

Lobby bar was busy in the evenings and bartenders were friendly. Food service stopped really early for a bar though.... We booked thru Priceline and got an excellent rate...if that were to happen again I would stay here. Otherwise, I would prefer to be closer to the action.

we stayed 1 night. there were 3 weddings going on. the music was so loud in our room that we could have sung along. if my neighbor were so loud with a party, i would ask him to turn down the music (or call the cops if they don't). the architect /management of this new hotel should be drawn and quartered. we called reception at 11pm to find out our options only to be told "it will be over any minute now". well it wasn't until after 12:08 am. (not fun before an international flight the next day). considering the exorbitant prices, i was not amused. after complaining the next morning, a very understanding receptionist knocked off 100 bucks for the night.
also, there was trash at the nightstand in the room when we came in. and long lines at the breakfast buffet. and no free internet (believe that for over 300 $ a night).
it just does not feel well managed.

The location is good if you're going to the convention center or airport, but not for other activities.

I travel a *lot* for business and pleasure and this was one of the worst hotels in this price range I have found. It should not be at the star level that it has been granted.

The decor and rooms were old - the couch in my room was an allergen pit - I couldn't go near it. The carpet also could use a better vacuuming and/or shampooing.

The concierge service was terrible - first we waited in line for 20 minutes behind a single other couple trying to book a trolley tour (not too hard in Boston) - then we were finally served and only needed a rental car - which she could not accomplish. I ended up booking it on my Blackberry as my colleague continued trying to work with her. Awful.
