Definitely worthwhile to take a few trips around, every driver has new interesting anecdotes and tidbits to add to the experience. Utilise the free coupons and included attractions to really get the most of your stay.
For us, we got the winter special (5 days instead of 2) so we could actually enjoy everything in our own time. Convenient and fun!

We purchased a ticket for the Old Town Trolley and, as part of their winter promotion, our 1 day tickets were valid for 5 days...result! The tour covers much of the city and because of the additional days on our tickets and as trolleys arrive at one of their 16 stops around every 20 mins we used the hop off hop on facility as our transport method to explore further around the city. The drivers are very knowledgable about the history of Boston and point out many interesting facts around the city and are great at providing directions although, as you may expect, some drivers are better than others. We experienced one particular driver who only spoke in one monotone however; luck seemed to be on our side and for the majority of our journeys we were driven by 'Giovanni'. He was like an excited child driving us around, pointing out everything, and I mean everything, he was very amusing and full of wit and banter, he was always smiling and his excitement was infectious, he also had little audio snippets to accompany his narration and had the entire bus singing along to the theme tune of 'Cheers'. Giovanni is a great ambassador for Old Town Trolleys and we thoroughly enjoyed our tours of Boston with him at the wheel. One note of caution, pick your seats carefully as some seats are set between two windows and the view can be obstructed.

this is a great way to get round boston to see the tourist sights. we got a two day ticket for $35 from are hotel which included free entrance to the tea party museum ,there are plenty of ticket boothes about the city if your hotel doesnt sell them
there are 16 hop on/ hop off stops all close to places of interest and theres a trolly bus about every 20 mins, the drivers are very knowledgeable and very humourous which is quite refreshing as we found some guides quite boring on other tours. the buses run from 9am to 4pm and can get quite full towards the end of the day, so its worth planning your days to get the full benefit of this service

i took the tour on my last day and as i didnt want to miss my transfer to the airport decided i would only get of at fenway, the driver i had up to that point was excellent he was fun and informative and it was clear he loved his job, he directed me to the shop and advised the next bus would be in 15 mins and it was. The next driver may have been having a bad day but was nowhere near as good as "bear" the 1st driver. The second driver might have been reading a script except he kept plugging restaurants where he knew the owners, when we got to Cheers i was trying to get a photo but he wouldnt let me stand on the steps to get one even though he had to wait 5 mins before moving on, It is a great way to see and learn about the city . would do it again when i have more time.

Wonderful experience. The price was affordable and the tour walks you through the streets and landmarks of Boston. Most importantly, the operators were engaging, knowledgeable, humorous and narrated the parts known and unknown of this wonderful town important in our history.
