The perfect little Italian place in the North End. Took advantage of Boston's Restaurant Week and went to Marco for a wedding anniversary and had one of my top 3 dining experiences so far (includes Europe AND the US). Extremely professional waiters, a manager who knows how to pair wine and food and a chef who clearly takes great pride in what leaves his kitchen. One of our dishes was actually recalled back to the kitchen. We were quite happy with the dish in the first place, but the chef didn't think it was "up to par" and gave us a new one that was outstanding.
The meny has a wide array of choices, we went with gorgonzola stuffed mushrooms and prosicutto and bread with tomato/garlic/herb spread [forgot italian name]; pork with rugula salat and herbcrusted salmon and avocado/tomato salad and finally espresso panna cotta and cannolis for dessert. All was perfectly paired with wine, and the dessert came with a sparkling red wine that was out of this world (actually from Italy, need to look it up some day).
My tip is to bring a loved one, family or friends, order a 3 course meal and trust Marco's outstanding staff to work out the wines that goes with the meal. Might not be your budget night out, but definitely one to remember.
