I bought a CityPass and had "free" entry to the Observatory today. It offers great views and a free audio guide that explains what you can see and gives some background. The views are stunning on a clear day and the audio guide offered great information.
However the whole exhibition seemed very run down. There are several props about immigration into Boston and the US, everything seemed very old and looked used.
The movie they were showing was good, but was shown at a terrible resolution. It is 2013, they should offer some sort of HD video rather than VHS quality.
On a good day it is worth a visit just for the view. Don't expect much from the museum and the movie.

A must for a first time visitor. Make sure it's a clear day and its worth the entry fee. Lots of interesting facts and info to read about while getting the complete view of the City.

Go to the restaurant and grab a pepsi at the bar. Same view for a fraction of the cost. No joke. We're from Boston and that's how we bring our out-of-towners up there.

Another subscriber suggests visiting this attraction first and I strongly endorse this (provided it is reasonably clear). This was my first time in Boston and unfortunately I chose to visit on my last day; that was a mistake. Boston is not a huge city so this 360 degree panoramic view affords one with an exciting 'helicopter' view of the City. Strategically placed on the 50th floor in the Prudential Building the views really are awesome (see my photographs). I have been to similar attractions in New York and Chicago but this experience beats them all. It is well laid out with your own free audio handheld tour guide around all four sides of the building. Being January it was not busy which undoubtedly enhanced the pleasure we experienced.

Without a doubt, seeing and photographing the city from the Skywalk was one of the main highlights of our visit to the City.

Great way to see all of Boston. We were lucky to have an incredibly clear day. No waiting around, straight to the top. Good value entrance fee. Very good audio commentary - one for adults and one for kids. Cinema show was informative and other interesting exhibitions about Boston and it's famous residents. I would recommend this as the first thing you do in Boston. Walking around after was more rewarding with the information I had. The children's commentary must have been great too as my 7 year old was a fountain of knowledge walking round!
