“Don't expect to see anything”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

The aquarium must subsidize this business heavily, as the trip we were on spent maybe 20 minutes searching for a single whale before turning back; I suspect this is more common than not, as Stellwagen Banks are at quite a distance from Boston. I wouldn't go again- save your money for a company that doesn't spend 90 percent of the trip getting to and from the feeding grounds.

Their passes for a free trip no longer have a time limit, but this isn't helpful if you're from out of town.

If you tend to seasickness or motion sickness at all, don't go. Even with an exceptionally gentle 3 foot swell, the motion was considerable.

“Fabulous and Fun”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

My husband and I did the whale watch and it was GREAT! Tickets a bit expensive at $45.00 per adult, but worth it. The boat was large and comfortable. Best seats are up top, near the front of the boat. Once whales are spotted, the captain will turn the boat towards the whales, so ypu need to be in the front. The ride is at least one hour, before you get to the whales, and the seas can be choppy. Be prepared to feel a bit queezy. But, once you reach your destination, the view of the whales can be awesome.! We were fortunate, and saw a few whales including a mother, and calf together. It was beautiful to see. I would definitely recommend this adventure. They have 2 outings per day 10;00 and 2:00. I suggest 10:00, because it is a long day. We were exhausted, but glad that we took the trip.

“Fantastic experience”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

We decided to do this trip only the day before so were very excited to be boarding the boat the next morning.

It's approximately 3 hours long and we were very fortunate that it was quite a calm day and dry. We were really lucky and saw Humpback Whale, Mogul, after we'd travelled out onto Cape Cod for about 45 minutes. We followed Mogul for about an hour and at times he came very close to the boat which was an amazing experience, seeing this gentle giant up close.

As others have said I'd get there early so you can get a seat on the top deck for the journey out - once the whales are spotted no-one is sitting down ! Also, word to the wise, it was a very cloudy day when we were there so being silly Brits we didn't bother applying any sunblock....that came back to haunt us later in the day when we noticed our red faces !

The commentary was very informative and on the way back into Boston we sat inside where there was more information on the whales.

This experience was the highlight of our holiday so if you get the chance I'd urge anyone to take this trip !

“On the ocean must do!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Marine biologist was great.
Guaranteed whales or your money back.
Driver kept us far enough away from other boats and on top of whales to make it exciting.
We caught several different whales, including a breach!
If you're bringing kids, be aware that there is about 1 hour boat ride each way and some entertainment and wind-appropriate clothing is in order.
Arrive early for an upper deck position toward the front so you can see whales on both sides of the boat.
Our 3 hour trip took just over 4 from the time we were ticketed.

“Whales away from Boston”
Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

Some whales seem to live in Boston and are good marketing for boats. After 2 h of nice trip we met Nil a nice whale who made a show for 4 tourists boats.
Very nice with kids. Stay on front of the catamaran to keep a good spot.
