I often attend medical meetings in the Back Bay area. I think Hotel 140 is a great bargain. Granted the rooms aren't overly spacious but they are more than adequately sized for me. Two people would find the room size to be fine as well. I have stayed here a number of times and I have never found the rooms to be unclean or in any other way unacceptable. If you're looking for amenities such as hot and cold running champagne this is not the place to go. If you want a nice place to hang your hat while being able to get around and enjoy a great section of Boston, this is a wonderful place to stay. It's walking distance to the Boston Commons and the swan boats. If you want to get in some serious shopping, Copley Place and the Prudential Center are a short walk away. By the way, if you go to the Pru, make sure to check out Legal Sea Foods. Lots of other nice restaurants are within walking distance as well. There is an adjacent parking garage and it is $27 with validation at the hotel. Of course if you leave and come back you'll have to pony up the $27 again. Every time I have stayed at Hotel 140 I have found the staff to be extremely friendly and accommodating. If you have any questions about local restaurants, etc. they will steer you in the right direction. Bottom line: Unless you are planning to spend a lot of your time in a room watching TV, Hotel 140 is in a great location to experience the Hub. Personally I'd prefer to spend my money at some great local restaurants rather than paying for haute cuisine from room service.
