Went because of reviews. Put names on waiting list for an hour wait ... which we were willing to do because of the other reviews. Restaurant never called so we defaulted to another location down the street which will be the subject of a very positive review. They simply didn't care. Lousy treatment is the bottom line.

We really wanted to try this place our first night in Boston. Arrived at 8pm on a Monday night, yes a Monday, and they were taking no more names for the evening. No reservations-first come first served. The next day, as we were walking the Freedom Trail, we decided to venture off the trail a few blocks and try Neptune for a late lunch. So glad we did! We got in right away at about 230pm and the menu is the same as dinner. We had the clam chowder and it was the best I have had! Just sheer perfection! Lobster rolls were next-warm, drizzled with butter. That's the way to go. Small, but comfy place. Don't be shy as they will seat you with strangers. The bar seating looked fun!

Real bad experience tonight. We went there with 2 children, when we step in, one of the waiter bump the little girl to fall on the ground, he never say anything but standing there. After the dinner, our bill is $304.70, includes 20% of mandatory tips (as the waitress told us). The waitress also show us the small font on the menu of adding 20% tips for table with more than 5 people. We have 6 people, but we are really unhappy with the fall of our little girl who had her elbow patched with a bandage. So we gave $300, which includes 18% tips already. The waiter came over and told us we are $4 short, I told him that $300 is all I feel like to give, then left. The waiter shout on my back "please don't come back, you are not welcome!". After we get to the car, the waiter called me twice, told me that I only paid $250!!!! This is outrageous, I double confirmed with my wife, and she counted the cash left in her purse; we made sure we did pay $300. The fact they tried to scam 50$ away from us because we only paid 18% tip for their less than savory service is disgusting. Never eat there.

We lucked out and only had to wait 30 mins. They take your name and cell phone number, and will call you. The whole belly clams were excellent, crisp and tasty. Too many times, I had been disappointed, with old off tasting clams. But these were fresh and full of flavor. The coppino was also great, worth the upgrade with lobster. The lobster was full of meat. Definitely lived up to the hype

I walked in at about 12:45 pm and it took a while to get aknowledged from any of the wait staff. Finally someone came over and since I was alone I was seated right way. You're immediately struck by how small it is. One bar on one side and one row of tables on the other, that's it. I tried the warm lobster roll which was good but left me wondering why some people are willing to wait 3 hours for it. I also sampled an oyster and I must say I almost wish I had just went with that instead. I may return and just go for the oysters next time.
