The chowder was creamy deliciousness, the lobster roll was buttery deliciousness and the oysters were fresh and wonderful! We loved the atmosphere and would wait for a table again any time!

We were recently in Boston and fortunate enough to eat at Neptune twice. Amazing both times. We started with fresh oysters and finished with the amazing lobster roll (hot) both times and I highly recommend both. It's a tiny place in the North End and if you get there around 11:00 any day, you may wonder why there is a line at a closed restaurant. Join the line and find out why - when the doors open at 11:30 there is immediately a full house. Good selection of wines and beers to go with the freshest, best tasting oysters in Boston. The lobster roll is divine - best we had in Boston. I also recommend the fish tacos if you go on a day they are featured.

We decided to spend a couple of days in Boston, which is a great mini excursion from Connecticut.

Based on several recommendations from both locals and visitors, we were told that we HAD to try Neptune's Lobster roll. We were also told to be prepared to WAIT, at times for up to 2 hours!

We get there and it's a tiny tiny restaurant that probably seats about 50 ppl (including the counter and tables. We put our name on the waiting list (there is ALWAYS a waiting list), and was told that it would be about a 40 minute wait. Much better than the 2 hour wait we were prepared for. It probably helped that it was a Tuesday afternoon around 1:30 when we arrived.

We finally get in and man is it cramped inside. The place is rather small, and the tables are pushed closed together, so most likely you will be sitting elbow to elbow with someone you don't know.

We both order the lobster roll, which comes with fries ($27), we also order some woodbury steamed clams served in lemon sauce with strips of bacon... OMG, now THAT was delicious!!! We also ordered a bowl of clam "chowda" which was just "OK" as well.

Now the lobster roll, which is the talk of the town, i have to be honest and say I wasn't bowled over! It was good, but IMO not great. The bread was a little soggier than i was expecting and used to, it also wasn't as crispy. The chucks of lobster were definitely are the larger side, but they weren't as tender, and also some pieces were actually rubbery.

Lunch for two, including a Guinness and a Bellini, came to $107, which to me was definitely on the high side for lunch!

Everyone loves this place, so you might too.... I tried it, and once is probably good enough for me!

Lobster Caprese Salad!! Absolutely amazing! If you go to one restaurant in Boston...make it Neptune Oyster. The Lobster Caprese should be on everyone's "food bucket list!" Fresh, tender, perfectly prepared lobster ( and a bunch of it), fresh buffalo mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, all drizzled with an amazing herb-oil. What else can you ask for? Perfection!

great lobster roll... just north of little italy. The lobster roll comes in hot butter or cold mayo version. The Hot butter was like someone took a whole steamed lobster shelled it cut it in huge chunks drizzled with butter put in a bun then broiled to perfection. Neat place and best lobster roll with best oysters from all of New England.
