Description: HISTORY OF THE DINER:South Street Diner (formerly the Blue Diner) was built in 1943 by the Worcester Dining Company to serve local factory workers. Located in Boston’s Leather District, the 24-hour Diner is currently owned and operated by local restaurateur, Sol Sidell. South Street Diner has become a local landmark, a constant in Boston's after-hours scene and a final evening destination for local residents, students and visitors. When the clubs close, the Diner is the place to grab something to eat, hang out with friends, celebrity watch, and keep the party going. No visit to Boston is complete without a stop to the South Street Diner. Over the years, the Diner has been called "The PLACE for college students to start their Spring Break Tour" by Rolling Stone Magazine. It was named Best of Boston by Boston Magazine, as well as named for The Best Late Night Food in the U.S.A. by Esquire. Thrillist Media Group named South Street Diner one of the best 24-Hour Diners in the country. Most recently, the Diner’s famous Boston Cream Pancakes were featured on the Food Network’s “Top 5 Restaurants - Best Late Night Eats.” The Diner has also been featured in numerous feature films, including: Hiding Out with John Cryer; Second Sight with John Laroquette; House Guest with Steve Martin; The Equalizer with Denzel Washington; “21;” The Blue Diner for PBS and recently featured in the DC Comic ‘BatGirl.’

Love this little blue diner on the corner. We stopped in for a breakfast and were welcomed in with a cup of coffee and banana bread. We loved our diner style eggs and chatting with the griddle master. If you get a chance stop in to the South Street Diner for a treat.

It's great to be able to sit down to a predictable breakfast any time of day. We strolled over to the diner from our downtown hotel for a very good Sunday morning breakfast. We sat at the counter and let the guys working the grill be our entertainment. Our order was taken promptly, and coffee was poured, but the order was not filled as quickly as one imagine predict for a routine omelette and an order of pancakes. The place was busy but not jammed. Overall, the food was very good and the prices very reasonable.

This place looks like a hole in the wall, but is a classic Boston experience. They are open til 2am, I think, but we went there for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The place was packed and I'm glad we got there early because a line started to form. The waitstaff were really cool, we asked them real tourist type questions and they didn't mind answering us and gave us the scoop on the best places to visit in town.

This little 50's dinner is like stuck in time and it's very beautiful. The service is great and fast. The food is good too. We went there for breakfast at 1:30pm and they serve it 24hrs so it's a good thing to know. I took an omelette and you can mix and match each ingredients as you wish and there a variety of choice so it's good to make it exactly like you wish. (I'm a omelette freak lol) The kitchen is open on the other side of the bar so it's nice to see the cook do his thing. We had a great time there and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

We stop here after a long day of sightseeing and I was pleasantly surprised. We were seated right away. Service was quick and efficient. Food was good for a diner and a lot fresher than I expected. It is a casual atmosphere and it is great for late night or a last minute bite. Would definitely visit again.
