Nothing fancy about the place, the slices are simple but looks can be deceiving. Great tasting pizza. Had lunch here twice during our four day trip-three slices and a soda for $5.95! Sign posted saying they would be closed for the month of July 2012. Glad we went the last week of June.

There are so many delicious restaurants to choose from in the North End but.....Umberto's is a must try for lunch. Prices cannot be beat. Employees amazingly helpful, everyone is so friendly! Nothing less then delicious!

A little bit of a wait but food was very cheap and pizza was very good. Great place to grab lunch while taking a break from the freedom trail.

This tiny restaurant is among one of the most beloved in Boston! It is on Hanover Street, a few doors from Mike's Pastry. Galleria Umbertos is a cash-only lunch face-style eat in and take out lunch spot. They get long lines and are opened for lunch & close when the food has sold out for the day. No leftovers ever! They sell out every day so your food is always fresh. The restaurant is owned by two brothers- Ralph and Paul- both natives of the North End. They are hard-working and move through their long lines quickly, stopping only to pleasantly greet their regulars and ask about their families and patiently answer the questions of new customers, unfamiliar with the Italian offerings (arancini=rice balls). The menu is limited to plain pan pizza (blend of cheese and tomato sauce only; no toppings), arancini (rice balls), panini (potato, cheese & herb croquets), a few types of calzones (spinach & cheese, ham & cheese, etc), domestic beer & wine, soda & pelligrino (spring water). They also sell pizza dough and pizza by the pan for take-out patrons. The interior is no-frills and outdated but it is always very clean and a warm, neighborly feel. On Saturdays, people meet up there and people have met there! It is such a warm, neighborly spot that it is like stepping back in time. It is what the bar in the show Cheers would be like if it were an Italian restaurant. The prices could not be more reasonable; they are only raised every few years slightly and only when the price for ingredients like flour rises. If you like cheap, tasty, fresh authentic Italian food served in a warm environment in an old school, Mom&Pop restaurant with killer prices, this place is for you! If you like fancy ambiance and hoity hoity food, this place is not for you! I have brought many friends and family and co-workers here and they all loved it!
