Rio's opened in the Spring. If you're partial to home cooking, this is easy if you're walking and less so if you drive to where Sutherland Road meets Comm Ave. The menu suggests: "Explore the taste of Brazil" so we did.
There are daily specials - Monday is chicken with okra ($12-$14), Tuesday is beef with rice and beans, on Wednesday it's pork, Thursday brings ham and collards, Friday is fish, Saturday it's pork and beans, and on Sunday oxtail stew.
We had the lunch buffet. You could choose salad, vegetables, dessert and chicken. Then take your plate to the counter where they add barbeque. This is fun: you pay by weight.
From the open kitchen choose a garden salad, Caesar and Greek ($6). Subs: Italian, steak and cheese, meatball, sausage and BBQ chicken ($6.25). There are six pastas ($10-$12) including vegetarian and BBQ specials for $13.
For dessert: Açaí bomb ($5) with granola, banana and strawberry. Next time I'm going for the chocolate brigadeiros which look like truffles. I checked: the recipe starts with condensed milk, butter, cream and then you add all the chocolate.
They're open seven days from 10 to 10 and as long as your order is over $10, they will deliver.
