“Viva !”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

This small family-run restaurant offers super Cuban dishes (more on this shortly) and a dramatic recent history. The Cubano center of its Boston area, El O. was firebombed by somebody(s) who disagreed with the owner's politics. Neighbors collected restoration money;
the City of Boston kicked in more; the restaurant's been restored. This is to say--it's a crucial
neighborhood and city institution. Why? The food, that's why, plus the owner's heartbreakingly beautiful daughters who wait tables.
Menus differ daily--Friday is the big one. Roast pork in various forms sells out quickly--go early
and be prepared to wait in the outside line. Lovely seafood sopa most days. Various rices &
beans and plantonos --beautifully colored and prepared. Simple, delicate flan. All standard Cuban fare, beautifully prepared.
Prices are very reasonable; servers are uniformly gentle, accommodating; the place is full of
families, specializing in babies, it seems. Try arriving mid-day; a bit quieter, no wait.
Only caveat: no liquor license and BYOB's forbidden. A tiny sacrifice.

“A great place to bring visitors”

Limited options for vegetarians but otherwise the food is wonderful and the photographs of Cuba lining the walls make for a fun visit. Not on the fancy side but clean and good service.

“Tasty, tasty, tasty!”
Reviewed March 5, 2012

While in Boston on three day business trip, was taken here by clients and was treated to a surprisingly delicious lunch. Unfortunately they were out of their daily special "roasted pork" so I ordered the Beef Tongue in Sauce Braised and loved it. Served with their yellow rice and sweet plantains, my taste buds went on a little Caribbean vacation to Cuba. The lengua was tender and smothered in a flavorful onion, pepper, and tomato-based sauce - and there was more than plenty on the plate. Server was sweet and got our entire table of 8's orders correct. Enjoyed the cafe con leche, too! Worth stopping in for a bite!

“Best cuban sandwich in Boston”
Reviewed February 16, 2012

Great place, with some awesome food - the Cubano in particular is delicious. Very casual atmosphere and while some of their food, especially their specials, can be a little pricy, it's still a great place.
