We visit Boston 2x a year and we always make The Daily Catch a stop. It is a tiny place where no reservations are taken. If there is not a seat available, you wait in a line outside. But.... completely worth it in our books. Their fried calamari is to die for and their squid ink pasta is also one of our favorites. We also love that the food is served in the pan it is cooked in! The menu is located on a chalkboard. The kitchen and the cook are in full exposure which is a lot of fun. The same cook has been there for at least the last 2 years.

Small, 20 seats, crowded, you'll probably sit next to others, cash only, the wine is served in plastic cups, no reservations, wait outside in line until they call you in, then enjoy some of the best, provocative food in the North End (Italian area) of Boston. GODERE...........

We had to wait almost an hour to get into the restaurant but we persevered because all the guests coming out of the restaurant had big smiles on their faces.
For the apps, we ordered the Silician style littlenecks and the calamari scampi with white sauce. The littlenecks were out of this world - very fresh, loads of flavour and a nice portion. The calamari, however, was way too rich for us. For the mains, we had a half portion of the homemade black pasta and the scrod. The black pasta was absolutely delicious and quite generous but the scrod was almost tasteless. It came with a huge side dish of pasta which we couldn't finish.
Two of the dishes were amazing while the other two let us down. Maybe we ordered the wrong things but we had asked the waiter for his advice.
Would we come back? Definitely for the littlenecks and the black pasta!

My family went to the Dailycatch's seaport location in Aug. 2013, because of good reviews here. The overall experience was disappointing. The service was slow. We didn't complain, but another customer did. The food tasted mediocre at best. Fried calamari was chewy and tasteless. I don't know why our soup and fried stuff weren't hot but just warm. The portion was small and the price was higher than what was listed at their website. My son's kid meal came with three little pieces of fried chicken, which was charged more than $8. Not impressed, and won't come again.

The 6 of us all enjoyed the seafood, it was so fresh and completely amazing. We were seated outside, overlooking the Harbor and loved the view. The restaurant is also known for it's "Black" pasta [made with squid ink]. We would definitely eat here again!
