Like stepping back in time to an era when bakeries were unique houses of magical wonderment and the pastry workers were "old world" trained Masters who were proud to serve only the best .

The long line is so worth the wait. If you're looking for the very best cannoli, look no further. These are huge, fresh, and so delicious!! You cannot visit the North End without stopping at Mike's. They offer many different flavors, but I stick with the original ricotta cannoli, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

We kept seeing people carrying little white pastry boxes. We decided to check it out for ourselves. The pastry selections are amazing - everything from cupcakes to cannolis. Mouthwatering. The lines can be long but they move the customers thru quickly. They only accept cash.

Mike's is good. Mike's can even be great. But what makes Mike's great is that, at its heart, it's a tourist trap. This place is known for their cannolli, the string hanging from the ceiling, and the ubiquitous blue-and-white boxes. As a Boston dweller, though, I can tell you that the North End has better to offer. In fact, don't trust any pastry shop where the cannollis come pre-filled. Only eat it when they fill it fresh!
