The best restaurant on the North End. Everything is cooked perfectly and the service is impeccable. The lobster ravioli appetizer is excellent. The oysters are cooked plump and juicy. The Osso Bucco is to die for and their fresh fish is always the finest available. It was swordfish on the night we were there. If you are and Italian wine fan the list will impress you.

The host is almost performance art from SNL TOTally !!!! annoyed that you have walked in the door-Hysterically disinterested in speaking with peasants which includes everyone, LOL.
Now the Waiter James and the wait staff -pleasant dark haired young man were charming low-key and helpful.
Took clients out to dinner first time in Boston in many years.Food and drinks delicious!! Osso Bucco--fabulous Lamb ravioli fabulous yes said it twice-
Dessserts to die for Zabiglione with fresh strawberries-chocholate tart
HOWEVER--our clients ordered two dishes that were embarrassingly meager.Like appetizer size like a heaping tablespoon-??? for $25 or so--So-only get recommended dishes from Trip or chow hound-
Beautiful room the alcove upstairs-
can only give 3 * b/c of portion size and( possibly training for hollywood part as a condescending snob)-Host

We went to Mamma Maria's the other night without a reservation. We were accommodated by a very gruff and rude host. Rude because he kept looking at my husbands hand. I did not understand why, until we were leaving. Apparently we were supposed to give him money for a table. I guess that's what you do there because last night we tried to give the hostess money at Prezza and she declined. She said she was doing her job! Service at Mamma Maria's was good. I was underwhelmed with my food but overall it was ok.

We ate at the bar -- we were early and they forgot about us! As a result, though, we got to enjoy Doreen, a consummate bartender. What a pro and what fun!

The bar only has four seats, so most diners will enjoy Mamma Maria's at a table. Great atmosphere, perfect cocktails, and delectable food. We had the sea bass and veal osso buco. Best osso buco we've ever had.

Molte bene!

This restaurant puts most others in the North End to shame. The waitstaff were attentive without being obsequious or patronizing. Wine could have been more reasonably priced. They had a great sense of timing for delivery of the courses, which were very well presented and tasted..delicious! We enjoyed the Osso Bucco and rabbit pasta, both cooked to perfection. I especially enjoyed the pappardelle, so fresh not the least bit pasty. I would go again with any special guest.
