“Easy walk from Boylston Street or Common”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Ate here as The Marathon was ending.

Nice lunch specials, generous portion, very clean. Food was flavorful.

Owner welcomed me into the restaurant.

“Not great and not bad. Average.”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

It is an average Thai place. I used to like it a lot but my last visit last week was kind of a disappointment. Service was ok. The food was decent but nothing to write home about... Average Thai food... The Crab Rangoon was not tasty but the Red Curry and the Ground chicken basil were OK.

It's a good place for an inexpensive weekday meal, that's about it.

“Thai-ed up on Columbus”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

South End weekend eating is competitive sport. Lines form everywhere. Will we have to stand on line? We do not have to wait. House of Siam is cozy, with flowers, awards and artifacts from home. Soon there is spicy chicken with cashews, water chestnuts, pineapple and chilis in pik-pao sauce ($13).

Kim went for pad Thai. Rice noodles, chicken, egg, peanuts, sprouts, coriander and lime make a mouthful of salty, sweet, crunchy brunch ($11). Even with tastes all around there is plenty to take home. Rad nar with broccoli and mushrooms is a treat and almost too much ($12). Actually, it's too much for lunch. What ever happened to lunch specials?

For a small place, they still hold the "huge menu" corner with 25 appetizers, 30 fish, 40 house specials, six soups, eight salads, and ten curries. Funny, there isn't a single condiment on the table: no peanuts, fish sauce, sweet sauce, pepper flakes, no salt and no pepper. What does this mean? The chef is a prima donna or the food is just right?

“Great Thai food”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

Not the absolute Thai best in Boston, but very solid. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. I would recommend the garlic wings, Pad CU, and the best crab rangoon you may ever have. Get a huge Thai beer while you are there.

“One of the worst Thai I have ever tried!”
Reviewed August 2, 2012 via mobile

I think they made mistake and it should be "Chinese canteen"...
The sea food were not fresh at all! Besides is the only restaurant in Boston where the scallops were awful, tasteless...
The only thing "good" was the sticky rice. So if you feel like eating only good rice and bad meat and seafood, go there
