I agree with most of the reviewers. This is a shop/eatery.

Nothing fancy, but they will cook for you and the wait for your food create a pleasant feeling of minimally pre-processed food, well, except for, say, clam chowder (which is excellent). Great combos and french fries not terribly dripping with fat. Definitely a local thing. I don't know if I would spend much time driving to this place, but it is definitely worth visiting if you are close by.

Great staff. Do not forget to tip :)

If you want to experience a typical New England fish shop, then Morse Fish is the place to go in the South End. The folks are mostly local and if I would be a tourist, I would enjoy the authentic atmosphere. I go there often for Fish and Chips and a Clam Chowder and NEVER regret. The quality is constantly good. The cook is very friendly. This is not a high class restaurant, more like a lunch place, the prices are low and the atmosphere is typical for a fish shop that also provides food. Go for the lunch, it is cheaper than the dinner menu and the amount of food is totally sufficient for one person. I found it excellent in this category of establishments. You can see live lobsters swimming in a basin while you eat. Ask for a lemon with your fried fish.

It's one of those joints that's primarily for seafood, with a window in the back to pick up some fresh fried stuff. Local guys, very casual and know their stuff about the food you are about to eat. After a late Saturday night, I usually go here to pick up a platter of all things fried - clams, fish, shrimp, fries. So if you want a platter full of everything in some shade of fried brown goodness, this is the place to go.

Also, if you need seafood as groceries, this is the place to go, as Foodie's next door doesn't have a seafood counter.

Sorry, but this place doesn't deserve anything below a 4* rating. Rating a place average because they have something you dont like is like going to Chipotle and rating them average because they serve something called a "Burrito Bowl".

anyway /rant. One of the best places to get fresh seafood. it's nowhere near any touristy places so you'll hardly find hordes of people around.

When you first walk in, to the left is where the fresh seafood is, to the right are tables where you can eat the food you order.

there were so many things on the menu we wanted to eat but we figured that it's obligatory to get lobster rolls being in the boston area.

glad we chose to splurge a little. they call it a lobster salad roll, and you'll definitely get the taste of it being a seafood salad but it's not so overly dressed that you'll feel like you're eating the condiment only. also, you wont feel like you're just eating bread with every bite. they give you a good serving of lobster!

the price is pretty much the same as everywhere else, but for the price and the above mentioned specifics, you'll be glad you came here.
