“Friendly neighborhood pub (with Boddington's)”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

I stopped at this downtown pub for a quick meal while on business in Boston. For a pub, the service was great - friendly, casual, but attentive. Very authentic compared to the pubs I've visited in the UK. The food was very good and they had Boddington's, so I was happy!

“Great Downtown Option”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

I had a late dinner and drinks at Emmets with four friends on a weeknight. Service made the day- friendly staff paid close attention and kept our Guinness topped off. If you're staying downtown in Boston, try Emmets and you'll be quite satisfied.

“good after-work drink”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Good place for an after-work drink, good decent service, limited areas to hang out though. Food is fine but not great, but your typical type of Irish bar. Not overly authentic but the location is convenient.

“First visit good, second visit bad!!”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Our fist time wasw good, nice food and service was good. We decided to go back for brunch a few days later and had to wait some time for menus, or even an offer of drinks. Orders were finally taken from a server who was very dis-interested. She wrote down our orders and went away. Someone else came with our drinks. A full 40 minutes later and no sign of our sandwiches, even the table beside us who arrived after us, had their food. When we asked our server as to the status of our food, she went off to check, only to return and tell us that she had forgotten to "put in our order" whatever that means! We told her again what we wanted, which was to include side salads and not chips.

Our orders eventually arrived, with side orders of chips and one of the orders was completely wrong. We asked for the salads and again the vacant look! The food is OK, not fabulous, but then this is an "Oirish" pub, so cant expect much.
No apology from the server who wrote down our order, needless to say, she didn't get a tip!
Overall, this place is a bit tired. Needs an overhaul like its next door neighbour bar also owned by the same person who owns Emmets. In fact they also own "Scholars American bar" down the street, which maybe slightly better on the decor front, but shares the same menu as Emmets pub! Very strange also that Scholars was empty on Paddys night, says a lot!
Maybe the owner should take a trip to Ireland for real and see how Gastro Pubs are meant to be done.....

“Sat night”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Was in town for a dental convention staying at the Omni Parker nearby. The bar was recommended by the hotel so thought i'd stop in on a sat night and check the place out. Didn't let me down at all. Great atmosphere and the bartender could not have made me feel more welcome. Checked out the 80's night next door which was also pretty cool but preferred the vibe in Emmets.
