We took our son here for a nice lunch. We had great food in this small and contemporary restaurant. They have a cooler at the back with a good assortment of premium meats and cheeses. We sat at the bar with our backs to the street, so we could see everything that went on. The service was great, and they were busy. I had the pastrami sandwich which tasted great, but had way too much fat still on the meat for my tastes. My son had the $16 hot dog, which was very large (really a sausage) and was "fantastic", "best he ever had". We enjoyed our lunch, but this was a one time extravagance. I would recommend this restaurant, only if cost is not important to you. It is very expensive! Total of $160 for lunch for three, which included appraisers, a beer, and one glass of wine..

Very restricted choice and, even within it, some of the food is very ordinary. Service was hurried and not very friendly. Hammersley' s Bistro is across the street - go there! Very disappointing, given its pedigree.

If you are into character then this is the place for you. It has bucket loads of it.

There is a walk in policy so no reservation necessary although you may have to wait. A good wine list but as for most of the US, it is relatively expensive.

For me the food was a little disappointing. We had a antipasto platter to start and that was pretty good. I had the hot dog and was a little disappointed. It was fine. My wife had the burger which was better.

Overall we enjoyed the night as it was something a little different but the food was not as high end as the venue.

Service was good too.

Overall, this is a great place for steak and charcuterie in the South End.
The charcuterie appetizer and the cheeses were top notch- the group loved them. The wine list was extensive and the server was knowledgeable about wines/cheeses as well. Service was excellent.
Salads were fine and the steaks were done perfectly and they were definitely on a par with the best steakhouses in Boston.
The dining room was tiny, and we had a large group- not great for talking/schoozing and we were next to the meat/cheese fridges, as there is working butcherie in the back.
Only 1 bathroom which there was a line for. Wish they had a slightly less squeezed space.
Still, its an excellent meal, with great service. If you want steak in the South End, you can't do better.
