This was a lovely setting, downstairs with colourful decor and furnishing. We had a combination of different hot meat and fish, and lots of vegetarian dishes. We managed to eat it all with the bread. It was quiet (no TV sport) with just a gentle hum of conversation. Service was good. Excellent ambience.

“Fluffiest, lightest injera ever.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

I'm used to really excellent Ethiopian food, but this place takes the cake... or should I say the injera? The injera here is like tissue paper. It is so light and fluffy and absolutely delicious.

We ordered the vegetarian sampler plate since it was a hot summer night, and everything was incredibly fresh with well-distinguishable flavors. I can't wait to go back and try the meat dishes.

Small note: it's in a basement with no windows and not great air-conditioning. If you're going in the summer, dress lightly, and order something spicy to help you cool down.

“OK but service needs some polish”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

We enjoyed the combination plate, two chicken dishes, one beef, one lamb plus tomato salad and collards served on the Ethiopian bread with which one mops up the food. The last bits of bread are the best, soaked in the juices. We managed without cutlery but I have been offered a spoon or fork in other Ethiopian restaurants and it does help.
We drank wine by the glass and felt the serves were a bit small.
There was a group of young women as we entered each with a narrowly defined task. However some of them did tend to stand and chat and ignore the customers - not all. Coffee beans were roasted and Ethiopian coffee was offered to the staff during the evening - a lovely aroma.
We sat at a round table on which the tray of food rested, but because our legs couldn't fit underneath, it became uncomfortable for my long legged husband leaning over to ensure his food didn't land on trousers, floor etc. authentic? Maybe. Uncomfortable - yes.

“Ethopian at best !!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

I love ethopian food and coming from NYC where we have enough choices in the city and it's always a challenge when you get an opportunity to eat ethopian outside!! So given that I was pleasantly surprised and food was good and the ambiance was standard. They have two locations and the other one is in Cambridge which is equally good.
