“Charming and Lively Restaurant”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

I really loved this restaurant----great location in the South End, charming brick building, beautiful and cozy interior, lively atmosphere, fun music, good service. Food was generally quite good, but there were a few misses too. We started with an assortment of oysters---all were perfect and beautifully plated. Washed down with a nice Muscadet, this was the perfect start. I had the grilled peach salad, which was interesting but perhaps a little sweet for me. A friend's watermelon salad looked beautiful. I had the halibut for an entrée---the fish itself was mild, perfectly cooked and very fresh. The accompanying deconstructed ratatouille was beautiful, but underseasoned. The brillat savarin cheesecake with plums finished the meal nicely and was not overly sweet. All in all, a very nice meal in a charming and lively setting.

“Freshest oysters, great patio”
Reviewed August 25, 2014 via mobile

Stopped in for a few plates of oysters and a bottle of bubbly and really enjoyed. Sit outside on the subterranean patio if you can rather than inside. Oysters from both coasts but primarily the east as one might expect. All fresh and delicious.

Here's a tip. If you can't get a patio table right away go across the street to the butcher shop and have a glass of wine and an appetizer while you wait. They'll call you when your table us ready. Seems like they're owned by the same people

“Exquisite ”
Reviewed August 21, 2014 via mobile

Had an outstanding dinner at last night. Barbara Lynch & staff attention to detail is to be commended. Started with Oysters (2 rounds) from Mass to New Zealand. Fresh, plump, briny. Great wine to pair with, finishing off with a Jonah Crab Fra Diavolo. A must stop in the South End.

“Identy ???”

Developing a sense of self or an identity is an essential part of every individual becoming mature.
I think this might be this restaurants MO!
I did the valet parking and entered through the front door. NO, I was informed that I came in the back door and that I had to go to the back to get seated.
Anyway, I ordered the oysters on the servers recommendation. They where the best. The servers are in tee shirts and blue jeans and serving dishes that have a fine dinning presentation. Small portions beautifully presented. I may have gone along with the upscale presentation and price had the servers been wearing something other than jeans. If they where going for upscale maybe a could have seen them a little more often.
A bar atmosphere with white table cloths and cloth dinner napkins.
You know overall, it was a good meal, over priced and service that was just ok.

“So So”

I was disappointed. Sounds like it's a favourite for many people, but not for me.
I was looking forward to the lobster roll. The lobster was good, but something
was missing. I'm not sure what it was. It was expensive...that's for sure.
I stuck around and tried the fried clams. They were just ok.
The french fries were the best part of everything.
I did try 2 oysters. One was from New Zealand. It was very good... would
recommend the New Zealand oyster:)
I did enjoy sitting at the bar and watching the cooks...that was good!!
Maybe they do fish better than shellfish...
The whole thing was expensive and just didn't seem worth it.
I wouldn't return.
