This is probably my favorite Italian restaurant in Boston. Every time I've gone I have ordered something different and I have never not liked something I ordered. Also, every time I go there the specials alway sound amazing. Their wine list is great and their cocktails are pretty cool sounding, though I've never ordered one.

It is a bit pricey but so is every restaurant on Newbury, and in comparison it is pretty well priced. Plus, the portions are huge. You could be okay with just ordering a "small plate" for dinner instead of their dinner portions.

Piattini has the welcome feel of your grandmother's house with food and wine that rival any of it's neighbors. Their popularity has caused them to expand their space but it still retains the cozy authentic feel. I have to get one of the creative combinations of wine flights and the Melanzane Affumicate (an eggplant appetizer with mozzerella and a truffled cream sauce. However the arancini is great also. There is a wide variety of entrees which are ample but not overwhelming. I can not end without giving credit to the servers who are always friendly and accomodating. It is their attitude that really transforms Piattini into a special place.

The restaurant is small and somewhat hidden in the brownstones of Newbury Street. Once inside, it is more spacious. One side is a bar area with tables as well as bar stools for seating at the bar. The other side is a small dining room with 8 tables or so. During the summer months, there is an additional patio seating area on the sidewalk. Our most recent trip was dinner on NYE. The service and food was excellent. The portion sizes of the entrees were a bit small, but the prices are also more affordable. Piattini is one of the few high-quality restaurants in Boston where a couple can dine for under $100 including a bottle of wine.

Other reviews have referred to this place as a 'little gem', and that is so accurate. The place is tiny, but has a really authentic feel to it. Waiter was great, and the pasta is so fresh. You may have to wait awhile for the food, but it was worth it. Also tried the blood orange martini, and highly recommend.

We stumbled onto this little gem on a busy Saturday night in Boston. We sat at the bar since we hadn't thought to get a reservation. Marie, the bartender, had great wine and food recommendations. There were 4 in our party and we each had something different. All of it was good but the Capesante was the best.
