“Your standard tapas restaurant”
Reviewed December 20, 2013

If you are looking for the more traditional-style tapas in Boston, this is the place to go. It is situated in a brownstone building on Newbury -- the upstairs dining room still has remnants of what used to be a residence. This is in comparison to say something like Toro, that tries to do something more edgier with their dishes. As with any normal tapas restaurant, this place does have its fair share of kitsch on the walls, which is good if you like that sort of thing!

“I really, really wanted to love this place.”

This is a good place. It's warm, inviting, nice people - but the tapas just isn't that great. It's fine. But not great. I was hoping for great.

Great host and an excellent selection of delightful tapas washed down with fantastic Vionta Albarino - perfect antidote to a full day wine-tasting!?!

“Great location, great good”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

If you love tapas you won't be disappointed. The food is always fresh and delicious. The menu has been the same for years, but I've never had a bad meal there. There is a broad range of tapas, the wine is very good, the decor festive Spanish without being ridiculous. The staff is professional. The only downside is that it is very noisy when it is full. Upstairs is slightly less noisy. Also, like most tapas restaurants, they are bad at timing their dishes. It's worth ordering your tapas as you want them, otherwise they all show up at once or the one you want last comes first, etc.

Many things to choose from here, but the food was not as good as it was described. The garlic shrimp were incredibly "shrimpy". The garlic chicken was more like burbon chicken. The Meat filled Empanadas were delicious. Service was decent and the sangria was good. Great cozy atmosphere and a cool location. But otherwise, very forgettable experience.
