Superb service and quality in an ideal Boston location. Led by the hospitable J.W. Beane and greeted by Morgan at the door, we were off to a great meal from the moment we arrived. Highly recommend Via Matta for the casual to classy dining experience. There were large, special occasion events ongoing throughout our dining experience and it seemed like quite a great spot to host a special group in a variety of settings, including a chef's table. Highly recommend the pizzas & house made desserts.

I have been to this restaurant a number of times and it has always been an enjoyable experience. You can't go wrong with any of the entrees but the Bulognese is the best I have ever had! The pasta is so fresh and just melts in your mouth. The restaurant can be a bit noisy but there is a lovely outdoor terrace to enjoy in mild weather.

The service at the bar is spectacular. I'll usually get a few items off the bar menu and a couple half orders of pasta. Best bolognese in Boston.

Some favorites:
Pork belly
Octopus
Tuna Crudo
Tagliatelle (Bolognese)
Cavatelli with Rabbit

This was once the most amazing place to go to dinner in Boston, but it seems like a whole new crowd of chefs have come into the city and Michael Schlow has decided to abandon the ship. Radius, now closed, seemed to have the same vibe as Via Matta has now. It's very quiet, you can get a table any time you want, and the menu does not seem to have changed in a very long time. Simple things like bottled bubbly water would go a long way -- they make their own -- as opposed to offering a brand. Our meals were good, but not great. It's difficult to ruin a steak, but the chicken milanese was once flavorful now seems like it was prepared by a student. If in a larger group and you're not on the outdoor patio, the tables and surroundings need to be a bit more comfortable without the space absorbing your conversation. The servers, however, are great. They truly know the menu and the perfect pairings for the wine list. Perhaps Michael Schlow is down the street at his fairly new Tequila bar/restaurant, Tico, but a little attention to the details and a few kick off parties may bring people back to Via Matta.
