Bery civilized environment with plenty of wood panelling and crisp white table cloths. Good choice of breads and butter as soon as you sit down. Didnt have starters to save room for steaks. We were 6 and each and every one of us enjoyed excellent meat cooked exactly as ordered. Side order of Brussels sprouts and bacon was very undercooked..The french fries were over fried. Couldnt exactly call them golden brown they were more brown than gold. Really dont understand why chefs overcook fries ??? Desert of bread pudding and profiteroles was excellent. Service was also very attentive. The restaurant could be heated more as we were all cold especially when temperature was -5 outside..Having complained about this we were told building was 80 years old and the system was in the process of being renovated. Overall a pleasant experience.

Everything we had was packed with flavor and well prepared, the cocktails too. The butter was potently good. Our steaks were both a little undercooked, but still tasted good. We really enjoyed the sides, loved the truffle tater tots and the the bacon infused brussel sprouts. The services was great and the restaurant was decked out for Christmas atmosphere, which made the experience that much more memorable. The vibe was good for dates, it felt like a lot of business dinners around us. Good vibe overall.

THE spot in Boston for an amazing steak with a fantastic atmosphere and impeccable service, especially tucked away upstairs at the bar or in a cozy fireside table --

In a word, spectacular! The Grill 23 has the most extensive wine list I have ever experienced. The food was fabulous, the service exceptional. The ambience can be a little crowded and a bit noisy but well worth the distraction.

We went late on a Friday night & the restaurant was packed. It was noisy & hard to hear at times. Recommend asking for a table upstairs (the restrooms are upstairs so I had to walk up into that area) - it is quite cozy and seems quieter & warmer (I actually saw a couple sitting in the front part of the restaurant downstairs with their coats over their shoulders while eating it was so brisk there).
The food & service (except the sommelier) were very good. I had the 100 day aged rib eye which was excellent & my husband had a dry aged NY strip steak that was equally fine. For sides we had the Gorgonzola mushrooms w/crusty bread (we never got the crusty bread) which were great & Hashbrowns crisped in seasoned duck fat yummy. I also liked the bread before the meal - they have this crisp flat bread with cheese and red peppers that is very different and quite tasty (it was a little too spicy for my husband).

For dessert we had the Caramel Profiteroles with house made chocolate sauce & coffee ice cream. We only ordered 1 order and the waiter had them split it for us on 2 separate plates (without us even asking for this) so that we each had 2 of them and our own container of chocolate sauce to pour on them. They were excellent. The waiter said it is one of the few desserts that is always on the menu.

Suggestion to the restaurant for better service - don't make people ask for their red wine to be decanted - especially a 14 year old one - serve it like you know what you are doing - especially for the prices you are charging.
