“Service is a cluster.”

This was my second time to this restaurant. The last time was last summer. Service was as poor this time as it was the last time. Servers are friendly enough - it just seems they've never worked in a restaurant before. We got our salad before the wine came - and we were apologized to twice for the delay in getting our entree. This is the same experience we had last year. Food was fine - just not worth the hassle of waiting for it.

“Absolutely Awful Experience”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014

We took some business colleagues here for dinner. Granted we were 14 people, but at over $150 per person the service is terrible while the restaurant was not terribly busy. It took over 2 hours to be served our main courses. The waiter was completely clueless on how to manage a larger party. Wine was available when there was it food, but glasses empty when food was on the table. Starters arrived 30 minutes after being ordered, and the reviews were mixed. It then took 15 minutes to clear our plates and order our main course. One hour later the food arrived. I blew a gasket with the manager..... No water for the table, no bread for the table, no attention to the customers.

Personally my food was terrible. Oyster need to be kept on ice before being shucked and served. Not mine..... Warm enough to melt the ice bed and opened by a gorilla as there was broken shell in the one that I choked down, and the second I spat out. And my lobster? Wow.... Re-heated barely, and more rubbery that a tourist trinket for the kiddies at home?

“Unimpressed!!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2014

We went for lunch on our last day, and assumed that everything in Boston is the same standard as Tias.
How wrong we were
This place is expensive but not that good foodwise
As our starter we tried the best of soup: lobster bisque which to use a Geordie phrase was neither nout nor summat: flavourless.
Gaspacho, OK, chowder, tasted better in Boston and the rest of the US.
I had seen Quahog stuffies, on the appetiser menu, and asked it for main. To be fair as a starter portion it was huge; But tasteless, sort of gooey from potato and starch and in dire need of some seasoning. Him indoors had crab cake & coconut shrimp, which wasn't bad, but weve had better in US.
Fascinated by the sort of clam shell thing the waiter used to comb crumbs off the table. As far as atmosphere goes it was just a busy restaurant.
And not cheap!

“Best Restaurant Ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2014

I can only say this restaurant is the best, the service was excellent and our server didn't rush us at all he gave us as much time as we needed and also spent time telling us the history of the restaurant. The food isn't cheap but was worth every penny as the portions are very generous and excellent quality. We enjoyed it so much we decided to go a second time so we asked our concierge to book us a table and the best thing about this was that the restaurant had personalised our menu with our names printed on them, which they gave us to keep. We also had a complimentary dessert to share. Just a lovely touch so thank you.

“Great location, ambiance, and food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2014

Great location on the wharf, in an old building once housing one of James Madison's offices. Lobster bisque had a touch too much butter for my taste, but the crab cakes, Miso glazed Salmon, and Lava cake desert were excellent!
