Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods - really fresh fish. Enjoy ocean-side dining just steps from the New England Aquarium. Our restaurant couldn't be more convenient to the Financial District, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall and waterfront hotels. We think a visit to Boston must include a meal at Legal Sea Foods. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there's no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We've received a boatload of accolades including "Most Popular Boston Restaurant" (Zagat, 2011/2012), "Best Seafood Restaurant" (Improper Bostonian, 2010), "Best Chowder" (Boston Magazine, 2010), "Best Seafood Restaurant" (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

“Legal Seafoods Latest Localtion - Long Wharf - Boston Harbor”
Reviewed September 27, 2010

We have been to many Legal Seafoods and have decided that the food is basically decent but not good enough to justify it's prices. On our last vsit to Boston we ate at the new waterfront location and were disappointed. The atmosphere is nice. The chowder is good. But the scallops and sea bass were not fresh. The owners of this multi million dollar operation have spared no cash researching their menu. The result is that it's unimaginative, boring and generic. If you really love fresh seafood and are not going to a restaurant just because it has atmosphere, I would suggest you try somewhere else. The prices are very high here and it's definitely not the best seafood restaurant around. Boston has many and this would not be my first choice. I will not go back...

“Good fresh seafood”
Reviewed September 25, 2010

Our first dinner in Boston and we choose well. The food was very good and the service good. A short wait for a table, but worthwhile. If you are looking for fresh seafood in Boston this would be a good place to start.

Stopped in for lunch and sat outside, restaurant is busy, but service was very good. Had the combo roll, Lobster, Crab and Shrimp which was excellent! A nice dining experience.

“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed August 19, 2010

I admit it, we went to Legal Seafood as tourists because we had heard so many rave reviews from family and friends (also as tourists). My husband is from the Boston area and he had never been there (doesn't seem to be as big with the natives, which isn't a great sign).

We waited about half an hour before we were seated and it was insanely busy. However, the staff showed no sign of stress and we were treated very courteously and professionally. We dine out quite a bit and we have four small children (at least three of which are usually present when we eat out) so sometimes we get treated poorly because with our large family they assume we can't afford it, but that definitely wasn't the case here.

I had the lobster roll and my husband had the fisherman's platter - both were excellent. The waiter was able to suggest excellent wine pairings for the meals (ok so he had to look them up, but I won't hold it against him).

We were in and out in about an hour or so, which I appreciated. The service was timely but not rushed.

I would go again, definitely.
