Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods - really fresh fish. Enjoy ocean-side dining just steps from the New England Aquarium. Our restaurant couldn't be more convenient to the Financial District, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall and waterfront hotels. We think a visit to Boston must include a meal at Legal Sea Foods. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there's no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We've received a boatload of accolades including "Most Popular Boston Restaurant" (Zagat, 2011/2012), "Best Seafood Restaurant" (Improper Bostonian, 2010), "Best Chowder" (Boston Magazine, 2010), "Best Seafood Restaurant" (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

After a short little ferry cruise through Boston Harbor and I had lunch at Legal Seafood. It's located near the Boston Aquarium on Long Wharf
I opted for the crab cake and was in heaven , this thing was 90% crab, and 10% cake, best ever , yummy!! It definitely hit the spot.

Legal is always good no matter which restaurant you go to--even the ones in a mall. However this location is worthy of the food. Its in Boston's seaport district and is right on the water. There is no fresher seafood -- the fish pier is right around the corner. You can watch boats coming and going as if your lucky enough to sit out on the patio. The first floor is spacious but still always has a wait. The third floor has a roof top bar with a great view and sushi smaller plates. I'm told that there's also a more "formal area up in the 2nd floor. Parking is difficult at best (there's a lt down the corner-not cheap but still less than the valet parking Legal provides. In the summer the Bank of America Music Pavilion is down the street so the restaurant is even more crowded. Make sure you have reservations because the wait can be daunting even during the week. The wait staff is knowledgeable about what they serve and feel free to ask what they like on the specials. Their clam chowder is a classic.

4pm on Saturday in late October.Just busy rather than buzzy. Too much over confident advice from 'helpful' waiter. He even told us (5 Brits...surely the fish n chip eating world champs) that malt vinegar is good to put on our fish (we think its best on our chips of course) then it came
with a lemon wedge. I know I sound picky but the whole thing wad like that and it was irritating. So the food-
Clam Chowder very good. Stuffed lobster bland but OK. Lobster bisque Ok. Deep fried seafood platter poorly ececuted. Fries rubbery. Expensive but good wine pushed on us over our original pick. Overall OK but I am sure there must be better nearby.

A great restaurant & excellent value for the most memorable chowder I've ever eaten! The service was very good & while it was very busy, we did not have to wait too long. For a bunch of tired travellers, this was an ideal place for ample replenishments in the heart of Boston.

We were on level 2 casual and very comfortable - we were overdressed. Was a Wednesday night and was busy and noisy. The food was very good - we had the Lobster mac and cheese and Shrimp - both god size and tasty. Price was reasonable and service was excellent.
