Great Hotpot! Try the Mongolian broth, it's so flavorful and has just the right kick. Absolutely delicious. The mushroom assortment is amazing, I recommend the lamb. There's a good variety of options and everything is fresh. The service here is pretty good, and the atmosphere is lively. I like that the restaurant is clean.

Only thing I would suggest is during the winter time, to not wear a jacket or coat that you need to dry clean into the restaurant, the smell of the food tends to stay on your clothes.

Shabu shabu is one of my preferred Japanese dishes, and Shabu Zen provides a very enjoyable dining experience, with attention to detail which I have not found in many other (European) Japanese hot pot places. For example, you can season your soy sauce yourself from an assortissement of garlic, spring onions, chili, and a spice paste. A very handy feature is sort of a sieve-spoon, which allows you to dip either the udon/vermicelli or the thin slices of beef/meat in the boiling pot, without "loosing" your food.

The quality of the ingredients is good, the staff attentive. On a Friday night, it was a student crowd, and lots of groups of friends cued up, waiting for a table to free up. For couples or singles, it is easier to find a place at the bar/ the U-shaped table sourrounding the kitchen.

Good value for money, and if you like shabu shabu, not a place to miss.

Frill free clean looking restaurant in Chinatown offering Japanese hot pot (shabu shabu). Decent pricing ~$12 per person. Fun to do and makes for a tasty meal. Perfect on a cold day! Came for lunch on a weekend and was surprised it wasn't very busy.

Another Boston must visit for anyone who loves Japanese food. It's fun cooking your own food and as mentioned, it all seems very fresh.
I believe you cannot make reservations, so plan your arrival well as the place is deservedly popular!

The food is looks fresh and healthy. I like the fact that you cook your own food, so you don't have to wait more than 5 minutes after you are seated to start eating. You can pay to park right in front of the restaurant, so it is very convenient to come here, especially in a cold day.
