Description: Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar is known for its excellence in wine and food pairings. The connection between wine and food, as well as Chef Daniel Bruce's deeply-rooted ties with vintners from around the world, are integrated throughout the dining experience - from the wine aperitif pairing that guests enjoy with their Amuse Bouche to the olive oil poured tableside from a different featured vineyard each month. Chef Bruce works with vineyards across the globe to source ingredients exclusively for Meritage that are incorporated into the menu, including citrus, spices, herbs, nuts, meats and other specialty items grown on the vineyards. The Meritage menu honors the restaurant's hallmark of matching wine to food and showcases Chef Bruce's extraordinary dedication to the finest ingredients. Native to New England, Chef Bruce has established longstanding relationships with local farmers and purveyors, and bases his menus solely on ingredients at the peak of freshness. Working with unusual and varied ingredients allows each dish on the menu to be unique while simultaneously enhancing the wine's flavor.

My friend and I ate here the first night of our stay for the Boston Marathon. We were seated at a table outlooking the harbor. On advice of our waitperson, we ordered 6 small plates of different seafood dishes to share and we were wowed. Each one was amazing and the quantity was perfect for 2 people to share. Staff were attentive and helpful. Would eat again here in a heartbeat.

Great view of the harbour. Nice that you can try multiple smaller dishes rather than a starter and main if you like. Staff were very thoughtful.

I went to Meritage for restaurant week with one of my friends and we did the prefix meal with wine pairing. The food was delicious but I was not impressed with the wine selection. As a wine drinker, I was expecting the wine to compliment the food but instead, it was a very reserved and generic wine pairing. The dessert wine was the best.

Went to Meritage for restaurant week. Arrived a few minutes early and were told we could be seated right away. We asked for a window seat and the hostess said if we would like to wait we could be seated at a window table shortly. we sat at the bar no more than 15 minutes and our table was ready. We sat overlooking the harbor and the domed outdoor function room on the wharf. A truly beautiful view with a full moon. We were greeted quickly by our waiter who explained the menu and suggested a three glass wine pairing at 18 dollars apiece this was a great deal as the wines were excellent and the pours good.. My friend Marion ordered the butternut squash stuffed dumplings to start, the wood grilled filet for her main and the orange citrus tasting for dessert. I chose pan roasted cod loin with chard and chorizo to start, wood grilled swordfish with lobster risotto for my main and the red berry tasting for dessert. The first plates arrived and were perfectly presented as well as wonderfully flavorful with great textures. The wine pairing a fruity white burgundy with a light oak was a perfect match to both dishes. To pair with our mains was a Meritage from Oregon. Crisp fruity and not overly tannic again a perfect pair to both filet and swordfish steak. Lastly a sweet sparkling Rose' to pair with a sweet dessert. All the dishes were presented beautifully and were cooked to perfection with textures and tastes perfectly in sync. Service was impeccable, from water service to plate clearing it all happened seamlessly and above all pleasently. Another great night with Marion and a place to recomend as well as return to

Meritage's menu is organized by style of wine, from light and crisp to robust. Each dish can be ordered as a first course or an entree which gives the diner a lot of choices and flexibility. Special salads are offered each evening. The atmosphere of the restaurant is inviting -- good for business or a personal celebration. The dining room is spacious and the tables are far enough apart for privacy. The wines are a good selection. We had a McPhail Pinot that is hard to find. The service was excellent -- attentive, but not hovering. I had a business dinner one night and dined by myself on the second -- very comfortable as a single.
