Description: Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar is known for its excellence in wine and food pairings. The connection between wine and food, as well as Chef Daniel Bruce's deeply-rooted ties with vintners from around the world, are integrated throughout the dining experience - from the wine aperitif pairing that guests enjoy with their Amuse Bouche to the olive oil poured tableside from a different featured vineyard each month. Chef Bruce works with vineyards across the globe to source ingredients exclusively for Meritage that are incorporated into the menu, including citrus, spices, herbs, nuts, meats and other specialty items grown on the vineyards. The Meritage menu honors the restaurant's hallmark of matching wine to food and showcases Chef Bruce's extraordinary dedication to the finest ingredients. Native to New England, Chef Bruce has established longstanding relationships with local farmers and purveyors, and bases his menus solely on ingredients at the peak of freshness. Working with unusual and varied ingredients allows each dish on the menu to be unique while simultaneously enhancing the wine's flavor.

The large plates/small plates concept allows you to choose many different items to try which was great since it was difficult to choose from so many fantastic items on the menu. View across Boston harbor was great as well. The wine list is EXTENSIVE and is designed to pair with the items on the menu.

We tend to visit Boston once a year; Meritage is always on our list of restaurants to visit, and we have never had an experience that's been less than excellent.

Based in the Boston Harbor Hotel, Meritage has a number of window tables - ask for one. They can't be pre-booked, but we always ask on arrival, and if one isn't available, we have a drink at the bar and wait. After all, if you're going to be there for the evening, what's the rush? And the view is gorgeous, looking across the harbour towards the airport (nicer than it sounds) and the ocean.

Meritage has a concept, which would normally make me run a mile, but wait, this is a good one. The menu is split into six sections, each containing four dishes, and headed by the recommended wine type, from sparkling though to robust reds. But also, each dish is available in two plate sizes; it's a great idea, and it works well, particularly if you want to try three or four dishes, or for anyone with a smaller appetite. The food is always beautifully presented and delicious, and the service polished but friendly.

If, on a future visit to Boston, I could only visit one restaurant, this would be it.

We had the five course dinner with wine parings - food, wine and service were all fantastic. The chef does a great job pairing food and wine - this is what they are known for at Meritage.

The food portions were more than adequate, my only gripe is the amount of wine poured with each course was a little stingy at 2 ounces. For $115/person they could pour a little more wine - especially, considering that wines for the most part were not expensive wines (retail $15 - $20 bottle).

I sometimes eat late at night, and to be able to eat anything on this fabulous menu, as a small plate, is a huge advantage.

The setting is beautiful, and a table with a view is a must.

My wife and I had our anniversary supper here last weekend. She had dined there before, on business, and thought it would be a restaurant I would enjoy. She was right. The food was delicious. The service was excellent, as was the atmosphere. Prices were commensurate with the quality of what was served. All dishes were offered as small or large portions. I like this reasonable choice, when it comes to gourmet food. I don't like to see a huge amount of food on the table. The views of the harbor are quite nice and the space is intimate. Free parking in the hotel garage as well. We will surely return.
