"Established before you were born". This restaurant has a great selection of traditional New England food - prime rib is the specialty, but you cant go wrong with any choices. The lunch portion of the Poor Man's Roast Beef is huge - comes with cornbread, 2 sides, and a half inch slice of prime rib for $10.99 - great deal. They have corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips and lobster roll, and despite the reputation the service is friendly and polite. The dessert menu includes Boston Cream Pie and my favorite, Indian Pudding - "Frost and Fire" as my grandmother used to call it. Be prepared fro family style seating and red checkered tablecloths, and there is even a custom brewed John Durgin ale!

I have eaten there many times in my six years working in the Boston area and it always provided very good, Yankee style cooking. My favorites include the Shepherds Pie and the Indian Pudding for dessert. Service isn't overly friendly but it is efficient and pleasant.

A very pleasant evening handily located opposite to theHard Rock Cafe at Faneuil Hall, Market Place, Boston.
Not upmarket but down to earth, with good food and wine at reasonable prices.

Durgin Park is set up with long tables, so if you prefer an intimate table for two, this probably isn't for you. Our waitress was extremely chatty and helpful without being pushy or in your face. The food was delicious. You certainly get a lot for your money. If you like fish and chips, make sure you pay a visit to Durgin Park while you're in Boston.
