“Fine dining, smooth jazz, and an unbeatable atmosphere”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

Les Zygomates in the heart of the Leather District downtown is the perfect spot for a romantic weekend dinner date. The atmosphere really heats up around 8:00pm, when the smooth strains of a jazz trio fill the dimly-lit French-American restaurant. "Les Zygomates" literally means "those smile muscles at the corners of your eyes" and my date and I were smiling the whole night. The Expresso Martini ($14) is a delicious creamy cocktail to get the night started, but the French white wine we chose was a sweet pinot gris which took our breath away. The onion soup as an appetizer ($10) is absolutely to die for, and the pork chop was HUGE. The pork tenderloin special with cranberries was the triumph of the night, however--succulent, full of flavor, and oh-so-tender. Our bread was a true French baugette, crispy to the touch, and we concluded our meal with the creme brulee (typical) and an unusual individual pumpkin cheesecake. YUM. My water was full all night, our wine was kept chilled and close by, and I would come back here in a second. Absolutely the best date place around. Just make sure to make a reservation!

“Nice atmosphere in quiet part of town”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Les Zygomates is right near South Station and would be a great option if you're looking for a nice meal before heading out of town... it's in the Leather District - lovely live music some nights, very nice french food with some non-french items. I know people love the raw bar but I can't vouch for it because I'm allergic to shellfish. I had steak which was great I wouldn't say the food is unbelievable but definitely consistently good - atmosphere is hands down one of the best in Boston for intimate, cozy, sexy.

“Good food. Noisy. Good jazz band”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Had dinner there a few nights ago. Ordered the ribeye steak ...meat good . Taste average. The bluefish was tasty. The wine was really very good. The service was very slow. The girl singing with the live band was very good, but the place was so noisy we had to shout to be heard across the dining table..not my type of place , but i am sure people enjoy it a lot as it has been there for more than 20 years ...and for a restaurant, that says something.....

“Nice Dinner”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

We had dinner here after not having been here for several years. The bluefish was fresh and nicely cooked and blended well with the vegies that went along with it. The sirloin steak was great. When I last came here, I had an absolutely heavenly cheese plate for dessert, so I ordered cheese this time. Both the goat cheese tartine and the cheese plate were kind of disappointing. They served a lemon peel with the espresso, which I haven't seen for a long time.
It was surprisingly good. The service was great and the active bar scene added to the atmosphere. .
