“Very Nice Stay”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Went for an overnight to Boston with our nephew to visit graduate schools. The College Club was recommended to us and despite have difficulty making a reservation over the phone (the person was very short and curt with us) we were greeted warmly upon arrival. We arrived well ahead of check in but our room was ready and they were happy to accomodate us. The Club is a beautiful old brownstone in the Back Bay area just steps from Newberry Street and T stops. It is on a quiet street with gorgeous architecure. Our room had a king bed and a roll away for our nephew along with a private bath. Wonderful crown molding and high ceilings are a hallmark of this inn. A couple drawbacks were the room could have used a good dusting, the shower curtain had a bit of mold on the bottom and the great built in shutters provided little in the way of room darkening if you wanted to sleep in. Breakfast in the dining room was continental with a nice selection of cold cereals, bagels, english muffins or bread to toast, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and some sweet danish. Coffee is from a machine which has its drawbacks but is available 24 hours a day and cookies are available in the afternoon. A great perk is being able to leave your luggage after check out if you are still exploring the city. Overall a good stay and would recommend to others.

My wife and I stayed here for two night in June 2012, having learned of this from a guidebook. While a private club, the general public is welcome to stay here. It is in a very nice area within walking distace of the Boston Commons. Very quiet place, with few people around. Our room was not cheap, but was huge and nicely furnished. Be prepared for a lack of heat (we happened to arrive during a cold spell) and historic plumbing. Extremely nice continental breakfast. Staff are generally pretty scarce (we check in late in the evening with a code sent us by email, with our key waiting for us inside); keep in mind that this is not a hotel, but a club.

Loved the paintings of the club presidents over the years and the creaking, elegant stairway.

Room Tip: Aim for a room overlooking the street.

This is a B&B in a very central Boston location. It is a mansion building with beautifully appointed and very large rooms. We were in The Wellesley, which was huge, with seating areas and a nice shower room. The breakfast is a continental style buffet, which is adequate. The lounge is available all day with free coffee and snacks (excellent cookies). No TV in the room which for us was not a problem but could be for other people. There is a full bookcase in the room should you wish to borrow a book to read. I would highly recommend this as something completely different from the normal chain hotel. good value at $341 for two people, two nights including breakfast and all taxes.

Room Tip: make sure you get a room with a bathroom, some have a shared bathroom.

Arrived in Boston during the infamous "Hell week" with temperatures -6 to -12 degrees centigrade. This magnificent place spared no expense in making us, the frozen and exhausted tourists, feel right at home. The spacious room on the 4th floor was well decorated and furnished. Amenities were decent, hot water worked fine (critical in the colder seasons). Breakfast was simple yet delicious, we never felt the urge to abandon the comfort of the dining room for better options outside of the establishment.

Do note that rooms have no televisions. Couch potatoes will die a painful death here. But that's about the only minus for this wonderful place. Would certainly recommend this B&B to anyone who can survive a couple of days without cable.

A very civilised and charming place to stay in central Boston. Easy access to everything and also the ability to park a car. On a business trip this was the perfect antidote to the formatted rooms of many other hotels. We will return.

We arrived at the College Club ahead of checkin time but our room was ready to go so we got given the keys. We were shown the eating area which had a coffee/hot chocolate machine and cookies at any time of the day. The room was on the top floor at the back of the building and was beautiful. It was large and had a good bathroom. Only problems we found were that the shower couldn’t go hot enough for our liking and because it is an older building when we ran heaters and the hair dryer the lights tripped out. But not a major problem. There was an information booklet in our room which had places they recommend to eat and things they recommend doing. This is very handy for any traveller to Boston. The location of the B&B was fantastic, it is on a beautiful tree lined street. The room was very quiet. Breakfast was bagels, toast, cereal, yoghurt, coffee/tea and fruit salad – so very satisfying. I recommend this place to stay.

They never disappoint me!
Very clean, quite and elegant vintage like environment.
Complimentary breakfast in the morning: three kinds of cereals, fruits, toasts, cakes, different Kinds of coffee and teas,
Staffs are very friendly and nice.
They have clean and comfortable bathrobes available.
Also the location was perfect.
It's located in the middle of everything.
I didnt have to use any transportation to get to beacon hill, prudential center, china town, south station, boston harbor, etc.
