Everyone just calls this the Zakim Bridge--or if you're cool and lazy, the "Z" bridge. They couldn't agree on what to name it, so they added the Bunker Hill part afterwards. It just makes it confusing, but name aside, it really is a pretty bridge, and compared to the ugly thing that was there before it, it's extra lovely and lights up at night. Very nice.

What a great spot for night photography! When the bridge is all lit-up, it's truly stunning. It looks ok during the day, but it really transforms itself at night.

Advice: As a woman visiting Boston alone, I did not feel safe in that area at night. The Bruins had just won a game and a lot of people were drunk out of their minds there. I wouldn't go back alone at night. Better go in pairs or with a group, I think.

The structure is ungodly ugly and far too modernistic for an old city like Boston. I wish the architect had tried to blend with the city rather than building a monument to himself.

The bridge looks beautiful but it is an arm of the BIG DIG and because of that I avoid it at any cost. I seriously question it's safety.
I can see it from my house and I admire it daily, especially at night when it is lit up.

The bridge is pretty amazing to drive across but it also features a pretty amazing new park underneath that connects Boston with Cambridge. The Boston Harbour?Charles River locks are at the foot of the bridge and these are in constant operation. The park that leads to Cambridge and near the Science Museum is brand new and has a variety of paths and bridges to explore. A great place to spend a couple of hours.
