“Tired, old and unloved”
Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

I was expecting better. Location was good for event I was attending but it is pretty small and hidden. ( Cab driver didn't even know it and took me to Boston Commonwealth hotel, so just make sure you don't make that mistake.)
There are no amenities that you might expect at other hotels for this price in other cities.

Bad for business travel - only wifi in the dark dingy lobby, so not inviting. Bad for romantic getaway - good for solo traveler on a budget.
Bed was clean and comfortable enough. But carpet and bathroom really lacking. Rusty and worn out fixtures. No deep cleaning seems to happen as dirt and guck hidden behind bathroom door, thick dust around carpet perimeter and around furniture.
Didn't use bag check as it was a common room where you dropped it yourself.
Really nice staff, but management needs to put some money and improvements into this place or it will remain a two star.
Price seemed variable. I booked weeks in advance but found about $50 lower rate on their site the night before I arrived - not sure what was up with that.

Checked in quickly and friendly staff. Room was very clean and comfortable at night. Bathroom was very dated but no biggie as long as it worked. We drove so it was a really good location to the highway and a parking garage across the street. Staying at the hotel got us a discount to park. It was close to an area that has been growing with great food locations. We'll stay here next time we come.

I've spent 4 days in early summer in Boston and I've been staying in this hotel
The position is very good, close to the metro station ( just a short ride from airport) and to the city center. Vey clean, friendly staff, delicious continental breakfast
the right place to stay if you plan to visit Boston

This hotel is a great location, it's clean (if a bit down at the heel), and the staff is very friendly. It's basic--really basic. But the price is good if it suits your needs. There is free breakfast--also very basic. There is free internet in the public areas as advertised, but there is NO internet in the rooms (not even to pay for), making it dicey if you're on business. Also, this is a very expensive area for parking if you're arriving by car. If you're arriving by train, it's only a few steps from Back Bay Station. So if it looks like it meets your needs, you'll have a pretty nice stay. If you're expecting more, you'll definitely be disappointed.

Great location for central Boston. Close to the common as the name suggests. Very clean with good, comfy beds. Bathrooms facilities fairly old but the building itself is old. We Would stay there again.

i choose this hotel because of its rate. the location is ideal. walking distance to the conference center and shopping malls. the standard room is tiny and the single bed is barely large enough to sleep one adult but very uncomfortable. overall, highly not recommended.

A very good hotel for solo traveller - great location, near a T stop, and a short walk to many attractions. Room was small but adequate; the bathroom could use a little updating but apart from, it was great. Continental breakfast was a good way to start the day - had all the basic breakfast stuff you need. Helpful staff and good wifi connection in public places - would definitely stay again.
