Owner description: Mary Baker Eddy was a remarkable New England woman who overcame adversity and challenged convention during a time when women had few rights or opportunities. She is regarded as one of the most successful and influential women of the nineteenth-century. The Mary Baker Eddy Library's mission is to "provide public access and context to original materials and educational experiences about Mary Baker Eddy’s life, ideas, and achievements." This unique library/museum promotes exploration and scholarship through its collections and exhibits, and community interaction and partnership through varied programs and events every year including "Opening Our Doors" and "First Night Boston." The Library is housed in an 11-story, neoclassical style building and is the home of the world-famous Mapparium.

this was a very unique half hour so we did it while we were on the 2 day bus tour. I would tell everyone to try it. It is a map of the world but you walk through the middle of it over a glass bridge a really great experience.

Only found out about this from the ticket seller for the trolley tour. Well worth a visit to see the glass globe from the inside .

“Inspirational Place”
Reviewed May 24, 2007

Not know anything about Mary Baker Eddy before but long enjoying the Christian Science Plaza and architecture - I decided to check out the Library while waiting for an afternoon BSO concert. I left frustrated that my own women's college from up the road didn't mention this leader who founded a religion and then to boot, a newspaper at the age of 86.

The library is marked by some wonderful spaces and a Harry Potter-esque fountain in the main hall. There is a huge stained glass globe that you can walk into with interesting sound effects from 1935. Most of the exhibits are interactive and funky which is cool with the mix of the old space. Very pretty waterfall in front atrium. Great little hidden gem to check out.
