First, let me say that I have taken eight Overseas Adventure Travel trips and loved them all. They were fun, exciting at times, and the groups became friends.
So, I decided to take the "Beautiful Blue Danube" cruise as I'm getting older and wanted something less taxing. But I anticipated something along the lines of the OAT trips. No Way! It's hard to believe that it was run by the same organization.
Whoever called it "Beautiful Blue Danube" had a very active imagination. The water is brown.
There were four cities visited. During the first, Prague, we stayed in a lovely hotel for three nights. Visited a castle. Did some shopping. Then we boarded the ship to go to Slovakia, Budapest, Vienna and the Czech Republic.
We had maybe an hour or two in each city. Very little sightseeing -- for example, in Budapest, we spent the whole time in a food market. The rest of the time we were docked, although people could walk around the area.
I found the trip very disappointing. To add insult to injury, I returned with a serious case of Bronchitis.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry you were not satisfied with your trip. We will share your feedback with our management team.
The tour directors, Dermot in the North and Brian in the South, were the best. We covered a lot of territory from Belfast to Galway staying in about 8 cities each with comfortable hotels and excellent breakfast buffets. There were several opportunities to have laundry done in a day for a reasonable rate. The excursions offered insight into a number of traditional Irish crafts and an opportunity to not only see but appreciate this fabulous country and its people. Belleek Pottery, Waterford Crystal, Teeling Whiskey Distillery, Avoca Handweavers, and a home hosted luncheon were some of my favorites. I have taken other Grand Circle Tours, and they never disappoint.
Thank you for your review.
We just came back from a fabulous Grand Circle river cruise to the Netherlands to see the tulips. This was our 9th trip with Grand Circle and our 5th river cruise. From the pre-trip to Bruges with its medieval buildings, canals, museums and decadent chocolate to the 10 days on the MS/River Harmony with its delicious food and super friendly staff we thoroughly enjoyed all the stops in Antwerp, Ghent, Enkhuisen, Kinderdijk, Rotterdam and the best one of all Keukenhof Flower Park. The 70 acres and over 7 million tulips consisting of 500 varieties was absolutely breathtaking. Our program director Bob was the best with his very deep knowledge of the Netherlands history. I highly recommend Grand Circle Travel and their river cruises which are reasonably priced and the program directors are very knowledgeable in the history of the country.
Thank you for your review and loyalty. We appreciate hearing about your wonderful experience.
Our Program Director (PD) was a gifted educator who delivered daily talks about Mexican culture, ancient history, and current events. The hotels and restaurants were delghtful. As always, GCT scheduled activities to give the group a feel for daily life in Mexico. Our PD, Balam Ruiz, cheerfully handled all logistical questions from our group of almost 40 people, which is no easy task. Balam did an extraordinary job!
Thank you for your review. We appreciate learning of your excellent experience.
The trip was exceptional, seeing Southern France to the middle and then PAris was exceptional. The people, the area, the ship, the employees. All was terrific
Grand Circle Romantic Blue Danube: Budapest to Prague
We were on the reverse schedule, landed in Prague - 3 nights in a great hotel, then on to Austria and its many interesting cities. Second time to visit Vienna and saw some areas not visited before. Love Vienna, loved the classical music concert, the visit to the Apricot growing Wauchau valley. On to Budapest with all its beauty. Last night of the cruise the Captain took us up the Danube for a beautiful evening tour of all the flood-lighted buildings including Buda Castle, the Budapest Parliament and the Chain Bridge. Glorious. Met some lovely fellow passengers and celebrated my sister's birthday with the "Birthday Parade" featuring all kitchen and lounge persons with sparklers and birthday cake! All in all the cruise was two weeks of relaxation, beautiful scenery and gorgeous city and village tours.
Thank you so much for your review. Happy to read you were pleased.
