My husband and I both work in the hotel industry and travel frequently for business and leisure. We stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth on NY Eve in a jr. suite on the 4th floor. Check-in was smooth and friendly. The valet and door staff were great.
The room was phenomenal. The space was well thought out, pleasantly decorated and the bathroom was spacious with plenty of room for toiletries (the hotel provides Fresh brand amenities which are fantastic); the bed was cozy (great blanket) and the sitting area was as comfortable as one I'd have in my home.
The linens all smelled like they'd been washed in nice detergent, not the normal bleachy smell of hotel linens. The showerhead was great. We had a great night's sleep. The hallways and service staff were quiet and we did not hear any street noise at all.
Room service was very, very good and Eastern Standard restaurant was very good for breakfast the next day. There is a "T" stop right outside the entrance to the hotel so it was easy to get around the city. It was a great stay and I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

My company recently held a holiday party at the hotel on a rather last minute basis. The event team was quick to accomodate us and the party went off without a hitch. The facilities and staff are both first rate.

My wife and I spent the night in a suite overlooking Kenmore Square. Clean comfortable room was modern and well appointed. Particularly enjoyed the 'fresh' shower products and excellent water pressure/shower head (Seinfeld would be pleased).

Valet parking is expensive - but expected in the city.

Spent three nights here in Nov. 2009. Room was large and divided into two with a dense curtain. Quiet, cozy and comfortable in the midst of bustling Kenmore Square. Subway stop immediately beneath hotel. Valet parking extremely efficient. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (I acknowledged at least a half-dozen "good mornings" each morning). Room was immaculate, linens and pillows comfy. Excellent restaurant on premises, and many more within two blocks. Not to mention Fenway Park. Rates are reasonable considering location and amenities.

My husband and I have nothing but the highest of praise for our stay at Hotel Commonwealth. This was our first trip to Boston, and before we even arrived at the hotel, we had to call for directions. We were courteously given the correct directions from the concierge. That evening, the doorman suggested a walking tour that brought us down Newbury Street, an area with a wonderful mix of restaurants and eclectic shops. The hotel is conveniently located a stones throw from Fenway Park and the beautiful brownstone neighborhood of Marlborough Street. It is also located just above the Kenmore Street stop on the subway system. We took the easily navigable subway to the Government Center stop and were within a block of Quincy Market which had a wealth of wonderful food and vendors to choose from. We walked back to the hotel (in the rain) in order to stroll through Beacon Hill, an area teeming in historic architecture. We are looking forward to returning to Boston, and particularly Hotel Commonwealth when we have a little more time to explore this city that is so full of history, incredible architecture, fabulous food, and friendly people.
