We got a room there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we loved it! The service was the best, very nice and clean! The room had champagne and chocolates for us! And since i told them it was our wedding anniversary they changed us to their junior suits! Would deff go back there again!

I've stayed twice at the Hotel Commonwealth. One of our children has attended school in the Back Bay for the last three years, so we have stayed at several hotels in the area. This is now our favourite. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are large, nicely furnished, modern and clean. The restaurant downstairs (Eastern Standard) is very good. I have not tried the oyster bar restaurant in the hotel but if the crowds were any indication, it is good as well. It's a short walk to Newbury Street for other nice restaurants. The location is very convenient to rent one of the Hubway bicycles for a ride along the Charles River or to catch a Green Line subway train (Kenmore Station). The rooms were quiet (even the one at the back that overlooked the interstate freeway and Fenway Park). For an up-scale hotel near Fenway Park, the location is unbeatable. Regarding the amenities: complementary wi-fi signal is strong and data rate is fast; complimentary Keurig coffee machine was nice; and the bed and pillows were good. I have no complaints.

Dear Wiley08,

Thank you for providing us with feedback about your stay. I am thrilled that you enjoy our location. We are very fortunate to have access to so many things Boston has to offer. You will have to try Island Creek Oyster Bar next time you are in town, they do an outstanding job.

I've stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth on 16 occasions since my daughter entered Boston University beginning in August of 2010. Each visit has exceeded expectations and has left me wanting to come back as quickly as possible. The staff - from doormen to valets to housekeeping, front desk staff and management - are so friendly and so ready to do whatever it takes to make your stay with them as enjoyable as possible. I can't say enough about how much I love this hotel - and Eastern Standard next door - but I assure you, I would never stay anywhere else while in Boston. Once you stay there, you won't either. It's the absolute best.

We chose the Commonwealth for a three night stay because of its high Trip Advisor rating and its proximity to Fenway Park. The hotel delivered in every area. Really friendly staff, immaculate standards of cleanliness, a spacious room with a comfortable bed and good shower. It is flanked by two great restaurants, we ate breakfast and a lunch in Eastern Standard which were both excellent and enjoyed a last night dinner in the Island Creek seafood restaurant which was better than good. Our waiter Josh enabled us to try a range of dishes, the oysters were really fresh and tasty, the lobster and beef short rib pasta was sensational. He recommended two white wines which accompanied the meal perfectly. All in all a terrific stay which was topped by the Red Sox beating Detroit 20 - 4 and scoring 8 home runs for the first time at Fenway since 1977. Life doesn't get much better.

Room Tip: We stayed in 418 which is a very nice room but does not overlook Fenway Park.

My girlfriend and I chose the Commonwealth as our base for her first visit to Fenway Park for its location (right across the street from the ballpark) and its #1 TripAdvisor ranking. We battled through downtown Boston traffic, left our car with the friendly valeting staff, entered the lobby and were treated to a wonderful night's stay. The Commonwealth offered us an oasis of calm and luxury just steps away from the carnival atmosphere of Yawkey Way and Fenway Park. The front desk staff were impeccably trained, our room was spacious, the bed linens luxurious and the busy freeway below us a mere whisper.
As hoteliers ourselves, we appreciate the hard work and dedication needed to reach and maintain a high standard of hospitality and cleanliness and know that these qualities are surprisingly uncommon in the hospitality industry.
Kudos to the entire management and staff at the Commonwealth. In our opinion, your #1 ranking is well deserved...
To complete our happiness, the Sox scored 20 runs that night !
