Living on Cape Cod we actually spend a lot of time in Boston. As a Elite Platinum for life with Marriott, we typically stay at the Copley Marriott - a very nice property. Since we frequent Eastern Standard Restaurant, I knew about the Hotel Commonwealth but never stayed. It was unique, friendly comfortable and spotlessly clean.

What could be better – Having the Hawthorne Bar, Eastern Standard and Island Creek.

The Hotel Commonwealth was a very nice place to stay in Boston. It's centrally located, near BU and lots of restaurants and shops and of course, Fenway Park. The room was well appointed with a comfortable bed and plenty of pillows. Everyone at the hotel was extremely polite and helpful. I was "upgraded" to a Fenway room but it was on the 2nd floor overlooking the air conditioner, which was quite loud. I also was unlucky enough to have a bunch of high school students staying on my floor. They were not exactly quiet. Overall, I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Try to get a higher floor on the Fenway side so you don't have to listen to the air conditioning...

Dear Lindarene,

I do apologize about the noise you experienced during your stay with us. Please contact me at your earliest convenience and I can add a note that you would prefer a high floor. We would be happy to take care of this for you for your next stay. I look forward to hearing from you.

For many reasons my wife and long ago made the decision to take several short local trips in the winter rather than spend a week in the Caribbean. One benefit is that it allows us to spend a little more on some overnight stays in the city. The highlight of our winter is a night or two at the Commonwealth. The rooms are luxurious and the staff are phenomenal . Having the best restaurant and bar in Boston next store does not hurt either. The Commonwealth never disappoints.

The mark of a great hotel is, in order of importance, it's people, it's location and the property itself. The staff, especially Jeff at the front door, is amazing at taking care of your every need from you car, to your luggage, to any special needs you may have. The location for those visiting colleges or Fenway can't be beat. And the property with its great restaurants and spacious rooms is great. Stay here and you won't be sorry.

Room Tip: Book early. They fill up fast.

This was our first time to Boston. We had business to conduct at Fenway Park, needless to say the Hotel was the perfect place to stay. When we arrived we were met by Jeff who right from the start made us feel welcomed. He was very helpful on places to eat, we actually took him up on one of recommendations, the Uburger, it's nothing fancy but has a great burger. When we checked in another Jeff at the front desk continued to make us feel right at home. At check out we were introduced to Lucas who again was very professional and enjoyable to talk with. We had a GREAT Experience. We would stay there again.

We arrived in Boston to see the schools -- from "reach" schools (Harvard) to mid-range schools (Boston College) to safety schools (Northeastern) -- and were thrilled with Hotel Commonwealth. It's walking distance to the Boston Commons and also easy to visit the campuses by cab or public transportation. There are a few good restaurants near the hotel, and the #2 Best Restaurant in Boston is the Oyster Bar downstairs!

Prices at the hotel were reasonable, and the staff was accommodating. Definitely a big thumbs up!

I highly recommend this hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. It is in a good location right next door to the train and walking distance to Fenway Park. The restaurants in the hotel were both excellent.
